Does your laptop have an s-video plug so you can connect the s-video cord to it? If thats the case thats all you need to connect the laptop to the TV.
THE PC Hardware Buyers Guide
Desktop PC: Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 2.8 Ghz | Swiftech Apogee GT waterblock + MCP655 + 2 x 120mm rad | Biostar Tforce 965PT | G.Skill 4gb (2 x 2gb) DDR2-800 | Radeon HD 4870 512mb | 250GB + 160GB hard drive | Antec 900 | 22" Widescreen
Depending on your TV you might need some kind of adaptor.
Most TV's have at least a SCART connection (=the big rectangular connectors normally used to connect a VCR to a TV), and there are s-video to SCART adaptors.
So if your TV doesn't have s-video you can (probably) still make it work.
Some T.V's are very nice, with RGB Adaptors (Analog connections, the blue one on your video card). Some have the Component Video and regular SVideo cables. The very nice T.V's have DVI ports, but it all depends upon the t.v....
i'm sure if your laptop doesnt have the right video port in the back, an adaptor can be found pretty cheap.
thanks but i found out how to do it but i need help on how to make the screen resolution a LOT better any suggestions?

Normal TV's do not support high resolutions, only high-definition ones do.

I beleive normal TV's have a maximum if 768 pixels per line but most often 754 or 720.
So don't even bother setting your laptop resolution higher than 800x600, 640x480 wil probably give the best result.
TV's aren't designed to be replacements for computer screensm so the result wil never be that great.
But you can, for example, watch DIV-X movies on your TV without problems.
I know several people who hooked their TV on to their PC/laptop for that specific reason.
