    Default Question about loyalty

Alright I had a full legion sieging Capua due to the roman rebellion. Everything was great and going well. Mind you I forgot to pay attention to the loyalty of the general and when I clicked end turn he rebelled to the roman rebel faction then attacked Cannae.

My question is this. To get loyalty back up can I put the general in any city or does it have to be Rome.

Also on long campaigns like for example invading Macedonia. If I have 10 generals with 10 legions each and all their loyalty starts to drop can I just put the generals in recent conquered cities or do I have to ship them back to Italy?

If that is the case then my long campaign strategies will have to be re done.

    Thank you

Any settlement you own for one turn....in fact, having just looked at the triggers, these are two nine level trait trees that the 'anti-trait' of each other.
One turn gains you one level in the 'Imperium' trait as long as you are not in a settlement. At the fifth level you start losing loyalty points (up to level 9, where you'll lose 5 points total). Putting a character in a city for one turn 'resets' the 'Imperium' trait to '0' no matter what level you are at. So I would say that after 6 turns or so, you better think about a 'rest' in a settlement for a turn.

That's probably true especially as some of them are pretty much ancient history and it could do with a clear up. Will look into it.

Question: the character that "rests" in a city must be the governor to reset the "Imperium" trait?

No, in fact it's certainly better if there is a Governor already, because otherwise the General will become the Governor and start on a 'Civilian Career'.

Think of it this way - in 'reality' Legati were appointed for about 3 years; now, given our format, we would rather Generals were in command for longer than that; so, just consider him 'resting' for 6 months every 3 years instead - meanwhile his Legion is brought back up to strength.....

No, he does not need to be Governor.

Remember, we changed the Governor trait so it takes four turns? It only requires one turn to reset the loyalty.

My apologies - I just thought that applied to the selection/award of the Propraetor ancillary.

Ouch. Losing a full legion right in the middle of a rebellion. That's gotta hurt.

This is good to know, though...

    Default Natural-born disloyal general

So, how to cure the natural-born disloyal general? I got stuck on that, 6 sons out of 18 new generals got 3 rings of loyalty at the age of 16, then keep lowering till 1 ring last at the age 22-25. I dare to train them to be my greatest general, neither do I want them to hold my cities for they spark the revolt easily.

The National leader is Good Leader, all young disloyal generals are kept in Roma with the National Leader to improve their loyalty, but not affect at all. Could you please give me some advices?

Yes I have a general who no matter what his loyalty never goes up. I have left him in a city for 3 years and his loyalty has stayed the same. (NO RINGS)

There is just nothing I can do to increase his loyalty

Unless they have other bad traits, these guys can make perfectly acceptable Governors, especially if kept closer to home. The ones to look out for are those who, by about the age of 35-40, are not only lacking any loyalty rings, but have gained no Admin Scrolls and/or are on the 'Brutal'or financially inept paths, in which case it's often worth replacing them.

More so than at any other time, it is worth moving people around more. Experienced Governors with plenty of influence make excellent (as they would indeed) controllers of newly conquered settlements.

The guys that are, and remain, 'useless' however, do have 'uses'. All older ones (after retiring and approaching death) get given Corrupt Judges, Sly Advisors, etc. Younger ones make good holders of useful Retinue.

It is worth trying to get everyone the Honest Advisor - for then they won't get Corrupt Judges it seems.
