    Default Installer crash

Hey guys. I'm trying to install RTR VII, but the installer keeps crashing on me. I've got a screenshot at http://imagebin.org/index.php?mode=image&id=206312

Can't figure out how to put it into the message, though; neither [img] nor <img> seem to work.

I'm sorry, but the link you provided doesn't show anything to me either

    Hm. Indeed. Try this: http://imagebin.org/index.php?mode=image&id=206312

Also, I can't seem to find the edit button. :\

I think your pc is blocking the installer. You could try to install it with UAC turned off, that might help a lot

Hm... I could... if I was running windoze.

I'm on Linux and installing through PlayOnLinux. I've also tried enabling debugging, but the wine window doesn't show anything at the time of the crash.

I'll try to see if there's a UAC facsimile in wine.

Hm. Maybe the mod's just incompatible with Linux? I've no experience on the matter

Well, RTW, BI, and RTR VI run fine through wine (a compatibility layer). The problem seems to be only with the RTR VII installer.

Does anybody have any experience with this?

Alternatively, can I just get an archive of all the installed files and quick instructions? (e.g. create a 'Mods' folder and extract all to there; then run RomeTWBI.exe with the following parameters 'blah'.)

I'm creating a .rar archive for you, but it will take some time to upload. Then you can just extract it and copy the RTRVII folder to your main RTW folder. Make sure to install the Patch and its Hotfix as well

EDIT: I'm sorry but it will take 10 hours to upload. I don't have that much time now, you'll have to wait until the weekend

Not a problem. I greatly appreciate it.

In the meantime, I'll see if there's a way to extract the files from the installer. (They're all there, after all; it's just a matter of file format. :\)

In about two hours time I'll have uploaded the RTRVII folder, I'll post the link here

    EDIT:

Here you go: http://www.filefactory.com/file/rmcm...n/n/RTRVII_rar, just put this folder inside your RTW folder, copy the patches over it and create a shortcut. Good luck!

Awesome! Thanks a lot. I really enjoyed RTR VI/PE and am looking forward to the greater detail that RTRVII has. It's a shame that the east has been cut off, but I guess that's the limitation of the game engine.

P.S. It'll take me six hours to download... you've got beefier upload than I download.

I've got a pretty solid internet connection

Wait till you play the mod and see it's amazing detail and gameplay, then you'll understand why we decided to use this geographical scope

The east was never on it.

He probably means in comparison to RTR 6, doesn't he? But as has been said before, it was the right decision to do this new, more detailed map, as there are loads of mods with the wide map out there.
