    Default overdominant shogunate forces

is this just me or do shogunate forces always rise to the top? usealy after a few years, no matter what clan i am shogunate forces hold 90% of honshu and imperialists just kyushu and shikoku. kinda annoying if im a shogunate clan since i wont have any option but to attack massive alliances, or as imperialsist be outnumbered 10:1

i play on easy if its important, untill i get to knwo the mechanics better

No, it is not always the case. In my imperial hard campaign, the Shogunate control 60% of the territories. I heard in very hard and legendary campaign, your opposing allegiance will have a even bigger advantage and practically take over good portion of Japan by the time of RD.

in my Saga campaing on hard, every imperial expect one turned to the shogun and declarede war on me (so much for me peacefull, but well armed/defended campaing-.-) within 20 turns. Glad to hear that don't happens allways!

I can play imperial and shogunate will dominate. I can play shogunate and shogunate will dominate (easiest way to win by far).

For some reason every other clans flip to shogunate in first 2 years, and after that it's just downhill for the imperial faction in all of my games.

Only upside to this is that I can use this as a way of adjusting difficulty lol

my current nagoake camapaign is much more balanced. maybe because i destroyed some useally strong shogunate clans to secure the area. onto beating th eimperials out of the area!

It's definitely nicely balanced. In my Satsuma campaign, I was the only Imperial faction left after 100 turns or so. A sea of red on the diplomacy map and an endless clump of Shogunate domains to tear through. As Jozai (VH/VH) it was almost a total 50/50 split, with Imperial and Shogunate clans holding their respective halves of the country. Currently in my Aizu (Legendary) campaign it's around 60-40 in favour of us Shogunate supporters, but all three big powers on the Imperial side are terrifying/spectacular, so it's gonna be a slog from here on in.

How is one out draw and two losses balanced

My Satsuma campaign had another run of everyone converting to Shogunate. By winter of 1855, the entire mainland Japan went red in diplomacy for the lulz XD

I've played around with more campaigns than mentioned, it's just rudimentary common sense to highlight those that I've spent a great deal of time in rather than every single one. As far as an example of the latter goes, I guess you'd need to play to around 100 turns with every domain at least 2 or 3 times to get an average

I don't even have to play 100 turns, the map turns Shogunate long before that

Biggest culprit for this looks like Chosu. Chosu is suppose to be a main imperial power in mainland Japan, but almost every game I've played they get wiped out by either their mainland allies or by Oka (out of more than dozen campaign games, Chosu survived for more than 2 seasons in one game, and are usually wiped off the map in 2 ~ 3 turns lol). Then there are minimum of two factions that flips to shogunate in the first year, and after that it's just snowball effect.

In my Tosa Campaign, after 60 Turns, everyone is or turned to Shogunate except me

For me its split. The Imperialists control the southand the Shogunate forces control the north

In almost every campaign I've played, the shogunate side comes out on top while the imperials devolve into unnecessary infighting. Imo the main problem is that for clans like say Satsuma, they're only line of expansion is more or less through other Imperial clans. Tosa on the other hand, assuming they actually managed to survive, rarely move outside their own Island. THe one rare occasion when the usually "Imperial's lose" was in my Nagaoka campaign, where Satsuma started taking random provinces all over the place (literally) - so it is possible, just rare.

After more testing of this, in my current campaign (Aizu on legendary difficulty, pro-Shogunate), the entire map is Shogunate-alligned apart from six provinces scattered on Shikoku and Kyushu. I didn't contribute to this spread at all, my Shinsengumi were used mainly to instill discipline in my men and assassinate powerful enemies rather than inciting/spreading influence. At realm divide the clan chosen to represent the Emperor Meiji were the Matsue, who have a whopping four provinces and are listed as Strong/Moderate. Still seems up in the air as I had the exact opposite to this playing as Tsu, again without spreading influence or inciting.
