New Napoleonic Game

To all fellow fans of the Napoleonic Era, I thought you might be interested in the recently announced Mount & Blade: Napoleonic Wars. The game will allow you to play as a soldier in a Austrian, British, French, Russian, or Prussian regiment from 1812-1815. The really cool thing in my opinion is that this new DLC started out as a mod for Mount & Blade: Warband, and has now been picked up and turned into an official game. The original modding team is now known as the indie company "Flying Squirrel Entertainment".

Oh interesting, I had bought Mount and Blade Warbands just for this mod, specificly for the online regiments, but never quite got around to it.

I have seen several Youtube videos regarding this mod, and I must say it sure does look interesting. Up to 250 players in mp.

The thought of actually being a foot soldier, artilleryman or cavalry during a battle is, I think, wonderful ! I have the Mount and Blade Warband demo and it's neat. It can be 1st or 3rd person view. Shooting a bow from a galluping horse is beyond challenging.

I can only imagine being involved in a bayonet charge !

However, price will be the deciding factor. If it's unreasonable then I will not buy it. But right now it looks like I'm getting it.

It's actually a DLC for the base game (M&B: Warband) which will also correct bugs within the game engine itself that were discovered by the mod team when they were taking the whole thing apart implementing cannons and musicians and whatnot. A very good deal for the price of a DLC, IMHO.

I see people enthusiast but I cannot understand where is the epicness to play a napoleonic game in 200? Barely a line. And if it turns out to be a bayonet charge feast why do not play medieval then?

Not offensive, just trying to understand how much fun would be...

I would say the excitement comes from them all being human players

The exitcement comes from the teamwork everyone does, its unlike any other game (apart from NTW, but its still not as good). You also die alot less frequently than most people think (unless you charge head on every round) A bayonet charge is nothing like vanilla MB (medieval). Its probably my second favourite games series (after TW).

It can be fun Legio, though it was better when it was a mere mod because 250 people in snake lines doens't really do the era justice

though at least the batallion (regiment, but we can only even pretend to practice in batallion size so we don't paper tiger it ) I am part of (1st EPI) tries to style itself historically and operate in double rank lines and otherwise as historically as we can, so that adds a bit to it I suppose

Looks like Gamersgate is having a sale on warband too, so 15 dollars for the DLC and Warband isn't too bad

I run the 27th (Enniskillen) Foot on it.
Even though the small lines are rather unrealistic it still is rather great fun.

I bought it and have played it.

Very fun! As mentioned above, not realistic though, I find muskets have a rather long range.

But it's fun to command a squad of men and watch them carry out your orders.

Yeah its awesome. If you wanna epic you do a commander battle. But it is the best M&B yet and especially for Napoleonic fans.

The worst point = I bought Warband to get Mount and Musket

By that logic does it mean that everyone should recieve the Fall of the Samurai for free aswell?

the animation still ing sucks. if they wanted to make a dlc and not just a mod, they needed to put in a lot more effort than that.

it looks exactly the same as mount and musket mod with better uniform models. also, l'aigle mode looks much better.

As great as the idea of Mount & Blade is...unfortunately the graphics of world map are lacking. I don't focus heavily on graphics in a game but for me, I think they could add more detail to the world map.
