Hello all, just a little introduction here. I got M2tw for my birthday a couple years back and since have considered it the most epic game in the series. This is the first thread I have posted here, but this community seems awesome! (I like this site much more than the org). But after all these years there has been one faction that always gives a challenge. Venice, I play on Hard/Hard, and this faction ranks with The Byzantines, Hungary, and Russia as factions that are challenging and fun.
So, I have looked at the strategy section and it seems lacking in Venetian strategy guides. I thought that I might make one when I have time. But, one thing I love about Venice is that there are numerous expansion avenues. Unlike factions such as Scotland (a fun, but too easy campaign) where there are clear paths to victory, the Venetian player must make many decisions along the road. There are many strategies I have come up with. One is uniting Italy (sadly this leads to excommunication), another is going after the Byzantines, also, I have tried to attack Hungary early, but have decided it's not such a great idea. But then, I came up with a new strategy for the next campaign I will play.
After taking Zagreb, I will go and roll over Milan. Then I will take Corsica and Sardinia. Then I will Request a crusade against the Moors. After the crusade, I will conquer the rest of Moorish territory. Once the Moors are out of the picture, the rest of the Iberian peninsula will fall into Venetian hands. From here I plan on invading Britain sending 2 fleets, one to Dublin, and the other to London. Eventually the Isles will be subdued. From here on out I'm not sure what to do. I will have fought with the Byzantines and Hungarians by then, and will have participated in a crusade against Jerusalem. I think I will go and do a 3 pronged invasion of France (Italy, Spain, Britain). After that I will go and fight in the eastern Mediterranean and soon the entire sea will be dominated by Venetian ports.
thoughts?
