Tips on playing with Slavs

What's the optimal place and time to go horde, when playing as Slavs? Should I do it immediately, or should I disband my armies, develop my only settlement, and wait for the population to grow significantly? And should I migrate to modern Poland (to Langobardi lands), to Dacia, or to the Roman provinces in Balkans. Last time I tried, I migrated straight away to Roman Territory, but then I got badly beaten by ERE stacks.

Any other tips are also welcome.

I'd migrate as soon as possible, because the chances of being able to withstand the inevitable Hunnic onslaught is slim, to say the best.

Try the historical approach ( Obviously not the tribes that became Hunnic/Avar subjects) but migrate to the Danube and raid the Roman cities, building up your wealth, then hopefully the Huns will give the Romans so much trouble you'd be able to settle in the Balkans, just a thought

The problem would then be, that the Huns most likely will make peace or even an alliance with ERE. Taking the Pannonian provinces from WRE shouldn't be hard, as they're consecrating on the Visigoths and other migrating tribes in the west, and I might ounce the Ostrogoths too, but if ERE attacks me, I'll be doomed.

I unashamedly only play as Romans, so I couldn't say for sure about peace between ERE and Huns, I play this historically as possible, in the sense that I will keep the Huns off my back with tribute, until I feel strong enough to with stand them. But they never come to me for peace
