This was quite the battle. Enjoy the results!
In the afternoon tomorrow, I'll post a video showing the way I do it.

Wow, an impressive win you got there!I think playing as the Romans is easier than as the Epirotes, though

Are you sure? If I'm right, it used to be the other way around due to the Epirote cavalry and elephants.![]()

Yeah, nice victory, Typhon. But I really think Mausolos is right: harder to beat as Epirus. Of course, I can never stay away from this issue.![]()
vh/vh Epirote
battle plan:
Deploy the army in the center of the map (from left to right)
elite hoplite(5 rank); hoplite(5); hoplite (5); elite phalanx(4) phalanx(4) phalanx (4) slingers heavy cavalry heavy cavalry light cavalry
archer bodyguard bodyguard bodyguard
general elephant bodyguard
notes: the left wing infantry line is curved, the center and right infantry is in the open field.
all the cavalry and slingers hide in the wood.
1 let the enemy infantry attack first, your archer should attack enemy slingers or general
2 the roman should have a wider infantry line than yours, so they will try to attack your both wing
use your elephant to counter attack at the right wing, use your slinger and light cavalry to lure enemy away from right wing
3 when roman cavalry try to push your infantry back, which would broken the formation, charge your general or bodyguard to them
4 keep your elephant charging from left to center, meanwhile move your right wing cavalry to the back of the roman.
charge into center of the battle line and kill the enemy general
5 after smash the center part, victory should be fixed
some mistake:
the bodyguards should be at the right, the archer, general and elephants should be in the center.

Unless there has been some major rebalancing since I left, I'm having a hard to to believe the Roman results were being done on VH
A video as you promised might yet convince me of course...
