    Default Alt Tab induces madness?

This is a reoccurring problem. If I alt tab out of RSII then try to maximize it again my rainmeter skins flicker on and off, the screen flashes black (trying to remaximize RSII) and eventually the game crashes.

It's not a huge deal but it is an inconvenience. Is RSII known to have difficulty with alt tabbing out of it and are there any work arounds?

Do you have window mode on?

    Then turn it on.
I believe you add -ne to the end of the target in the .exe

Nope :/ all windowed commands either lock up RSII or don't produce windowed mode. Bummer. Oh well I always make a habit of saving before alt tabbing! ..(and anything else )

I find it happens to all RTW mods including BI ALX, I assumed it had something to do with my change of OS from XP to 64-BIT Vista... but I really have no idea. My screen just goes black and sticks there, you can hear the game progressing in the background

From experience VISTA gives these weird bugs to games. Especially games like RTW. There could be nothing wrong with your video card but its just vista.

Have you updated your video card drivers?

Does this happen to other games?

If you mean me I haven't had the same issue with MTWII of Empire, you can go in and out freely. When I changed computers to the one with Vista, my original RTW didn't work it went black, flashed and then minimised, from there you couldn't get the game to maximise in order to play. So I bought a new disc, same thing...I wrote an E-mail to (I cannot remember who the game was licensed to) they told me that RTW was never designed to work with 64-BIT systems. Strangely it works now, but just occasionally it will minimise for no apparent reason!

No I've never encountered this before. Yeah I have windows 7 x64 and had Vista for years. I know all about that pain.

Actually my video card is brand new; upgraded from my old GTX 470 to a GTX 560 Ti. So much quieter, oh so so much quieter anywhoo
I can minimize and RSII actually runs brilliantly stable. But if I ever minimize it and try to remaximize it, as described above, it flashes my desktop, then my rainmeter skins, then a black screen and back again. About 3/10 times it maximizes successfully and I see a loading bar. The rest of the time I have to ctrl alt delete to stop the flashing and struggle through the strobe once I bring up task manager to kill RTW and start it again.

No big deal really, I suppose it helps reduce the memory leaks if I'm restarting the program every now and then instead of just minimizing it. Just wondered if it had happened to anyone else and if there was a work around.
