or just make a double of the data folder and install over the new one. keep the old one sumwhere else and then just switch them wenever you want.
however i did that, and one day my old foder with original bi wouldnt work anymore. everytime i triedplaying, upon clicking the .exe it said error loading mount database or sumthing.

because IBFD also overwrites files in RTW\data folder, not just RTW\bi\data, so your RTW\data\mount.txt was corrupted, among other files.

Actually, I was working on doing exactly this to the mod. The problem is - referencing certain files. You could use the Jonesoft mod-enabler - but that simply copies files which are to be replaced and replaces them. Big whoop-tee-do - it still leaves you with re-replacing the files afterwards in order to play another mod.

Anyways - here's the scoop of what I was trying to do, and why I've come to a "hard"-spot. Or well - actually, I'm just tired lately and working extra - so have little time (at times) to put forth time and effort into this project (like others I've attempted in the past).

Essentially - all you need to do is this (note - if you don't catch on, just skip it all):
You need to place all of the IBFG files into an IBFG subfolder under RTW - much like the "BI" subfolder, which is for the BI add-on (aka "mod"). You might be able to get away with copying all of the BI files into this subfolder first before installing IBFG - I haven't tried it that way though, because I figure the outcome might be larger than desired, and well - maybe not everyone has that kind of space to waste.

Anyways - from there - you need to have a shortcut on the desktop pointing to the BI.exe with the following commands "-show_err" & "-mod:IBFG" the first is optional, but foolish to try without, and the second is basically telling you the folder to use as a base "mod" for RTW-BI, except RTW counts BI as a mod also, so it is looking at IBFG as a mod for BI, though the file changes and updates since BI are still present. Well - it's a long spiel, which I don't have enough time to go into.

Anyways - the largest question is not - "did I replace the right files?", but instead - "are the links pointing to valid places?" Oh it's a headache. In BI, many things have been condensed into .paks, which you can unpak with the pak tool on this site - but also - you have many links from BI pointing to files on the BI folder. Well, since BI is a mod, and you're telling RTW not to run BI, but instead to run IBFG as the mod - you can see where the problem comes in. You've now got to move the files from BI over or find some clever way of linking the files remotely, which RTW sometimes is a pain to accept certain links & commands, even though they "seem right." So you resort to copying files, and hence - making the downloadable file larger than previous, and maybe too large for comfort - as not all people are still "up to speed" with internet connections.

For an example of some crazy linking - try looking at the "descr_model_battle.txt" file. Basically if you're trying what I'm talking about - you need to change all of the models' link locations introduced from IBFG by adding an IBFG (or whatever you named the subfolder) before the "bi/data" or "data".

I do suggest that before trying any of this, and installing any mod - that you have a back-up of your complete RTW directorate. For those of you who have limited space - you just need to bow out until you get more space probably, unless you want to keep re-installing a fresh copy. For everyone else - this will keep a fresh copy on your computer to quickly copy back (well - not necessarily less than a minute, but a lot less than waiting for those cd's to install, and then patching it up).

Hope this helps some and explains a little.

    later and blessings,
    Gersh
