Default Line Of Sight and Infantry Firing

Not sure if its me but its seems extremely sensitive currently, most games I seem to have at least one infantry not firing at some point, taking fire at will on and off sometimes fixes it.

It seems very fussy on when they will fire, I seem to spend a lot of the match checking LOS and moving units around so they fire, cant recall it being this way in NTW, one small dent in a whole units LOS can stop the entire line from firing.

Others times it looks like they have full LOS but still don't fire, quite frustrating.

I will just repost this here simply because it seems relevant:

Yeah that basically sums it up, bugged movement great, so that last man stops the entire line from firing.

I don't think the line didn't fire because of the guy standing on that basket or whatever that was. I don't think they were actually in range. The cursor said it was, but the red line showing the units range did not say the enemy was in range.

Yeah, I think some sort of representation of line of sight should be implemented in the range indicator you get when pressing space or selecting a ranged unit, or failing that some of the maps should be designed with less accidents in the terrain in order to allow a player to know where line of sight will be broken up whitout zooming in.

Other than that, at least some of the glitchy unit behaviour, as shown in the video, should be fixed.

I don't mind that you have to check up close and personal the los that the terrain you're moving to offers, but I had two matches last night where I could zoom straight to the center of my rifle formations and see there was no obstructions between our lines and my white bears just stood there. I tried clicking the fire at will button on and off moving slightly and still nothing. Thankfully their swords still worked.

I don't know if anyone has noticed, but in certain castles where the gate has a ramp going up to the top level of the castle, the units walking up the ramp can fire out of the ramp area but the defending units aiming at the gate area won't actually fire at the units coming up the ramp. I've only noticed this in singleplayer so I don't know if any of the relevant maps are in multiplayer but it is EXTREMELY annoying as the defender.

That's not so much of a bug as a fact of how it has worked since... ever. The unit fires as a group once all of the units are present, unless you issue an attack command. All that happened was that not all the units have moved into position yet due to an obstruction. Works the same with any ranged unit that lacks "Can Fire While Moving". Solution: Issue attack commands.

    It's more like a feature.

It happens to everyone. I have to keep the infantry moving even on hilly terrian. Archers can shoot over anything. Line infantry requires sight on the line like artillery.

you should know fatal ground and tenable ground, likewise you should make sure every line infantry you have has clear LOS a single negative ground (simple small slope) can prevent a unit from firing make sure the length of the formation you made every one in the front line can see clearly.

Good quote from art of war, it seems you use the terrain to favor your advantage.

Simply memorize where it happened - some parts of some maps are not good for line infantry (for example western part of forest gully map or small part of bay of many faces) just need to keep that in mind.

I used mostly line infantry all the time for open battles, but for sieges I use melee units to capture the fortress.
