    Default Bravo!

    Man, I am impressed.

Started a roman campaign recently, and I am currently fighting in the first rebellion. I delibrately let Hannibal in the north live to see what would happen... I let that happen for three turns and voila!

I currently own only Rome in Italy... Sicily is completely useless other than its income. It forced me to use very drastic measures. I managed to build a legion (after all of my others were destroyed therefor I didn't have to pay any upkeep). This legion was pushed back THREE times! That has never happened to me yet in the total war series! I decided to do one final push for capua... Undermanned and no reinforcements. Finally I captured it, and now I'm trying to take back all of southern Italy while leaving a full stack in Rome (very risky considering Hannibal is in view with three full stacks). I wish I could show you a screenshot but I have no idea how to.

All this to say that, you guys don't get enough credit for creating this. I have experienced what I think your goal was for the player to feel during that desperate time. I am very impressed.

Thank you RS team. My hope for the total war series is not pulverised yet. Bravo!

No need to be so shy, and speak in the third person. :p

As for army being killed when retreating, I believe it happened more often in rs because the terrain is not as flat as in rtw.

I don't think that even Bill gates would have enough money to buy all the drinks we owe the RS team for the work they have done

On the other hand, if we did, there would probably be no more updates.

No alcohole for you, RS team.

Well a little bug just happened... The legion to the south pulled back after getting attacked while laying siege to tarrentum, then it just disappeared .. I tried to reload but it went to the menu... So all I had was autosave and now I'm fighting in Rome! Something I never thought would happen.. Carthage is getting their asses handed to them though . Well done on the architecture.

Other than that mild misfortune which I'll pretend the gods smitten them for some reason, I'm having a blast!

Armies disappearing after an auto-resolve that have too few movement points and LOST the battle (or tried to withdraw) will have a penchant in RTW to disappear. It isn't that they disappear, actually....they were destroyed (by the game). I have had this happen, so I know. Usually it happens when I just decide on the fly that I don't wish to fight that battle right now, and I think 'what's the harm? I'll fight it later.' Then my army vanishes. Since then, I don't do that.

Yep, that's just what happened.. It never happened before though? Meh, just a shame.. Just makes it more interesting now!

Quick question though... Does capua have reforms as well?

That is a fact. The strat map is directly related to the battle map.

Ive had the same disappearing army problem as well but only the 1 time and it happened exactly as described so it's avoidable.

Just wanted to add my voice to the chorus of bravo's!

Im having a blast with this new version; tho I waste an incredible amount of time looking thru traits and electorial positions to decide who should be tasked with what. Besides the obvious, Scipio=Carthage killer, Marcellus=Syracuse smasher, Varro/Paullus=Cannon Fodder.

The main reason I replied tho was the OP's Hannibal story, I did the same thing, had him close to destruction then let him off the mat to see what he'd do(and I was hurting). Instead of moving south he retreated west and met up with the Greeks in Massilia, they formed an Alliance and now his small army is fighting with a 10star Greek general and his stack kicking my ass. Very odd turn of events...new elections next turn, who's gonna be the hero?
