Default Fall of the Samurai Crash to desktop!!

As the title says, this game crashes every single time I've played for just 5 minutes or so, and every time i play a battle it crashes, this is problably the worst standalone expansion I've ever played. I don't have the original Shogun 2, just bought Fots.

Please, isn't there some patch or something?

Is it the game or your computer? Post your dxdiag.

    Also, post the gfx.log.txt.

    http://shoguntotalwar.yuku.com/topic...-X-Diagnostics for reference.

    gfx.log.txt = user\username\appdata\roaming\the creative assembly\shogun2\logs for Win7 and Vista.

    XP, use the search function.

Press the 'go advanced' button then scroll down until you get the additional options tab:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Select manage attachments, press choose file, point to the two .txts on your hard drive and upload them. Et voila, you are done.

amount of video ram your gpu has. shogun2 is downgrading your graphics.

yeah a quad core is more or less recognised now as being better for gaming although ironically shogun2 is poor on cpu core use.

what res do you play at? maybe we can suggest a better gpu that isnt going to cost a massive amount.

also you have a 32 bit os that isnt reading all your ram so is being wasted effectively. sorry to say .

The part in red is why. Time for a new graphics card for battles.

Thanks, my resolution is 1600x1200, I use that in empire and napoleon total war as well, and those games never crash
Hmm if you could suggest a new graphics card, not too expensive, I would appreciate it.

I just want a proper graphics card that can run modern games, it's just funny, I have no probs running a demanding game like Skyrim, with settings set to high.
If i should upgrade both my processor, motherboard and graphics card, would maybe 7-800 dollars be enough?

yeah for that amount you could get very good upgrade/s.

but what about case and your psu?

that gpu would do well at your res and i'd pair it with the cheapest intel quad you can get plus a gigabyte/asus mobo.

also invest in a decent cpu cooler so you can oc cpu and get even more perf.

i'll list you a mobo + cpu when i know your case and psu. how are your hdds? havent checked in awhile but hdd prices have been bad.

Thank you for helping me, my english isn't the best, so by this 'case', do you mean my computer case, or?
Neither do I know what a psu is, so if you could explain it, I would gladly tell which ones I have.

My hdd free space is somewhere aorund 70, and it's a very old harddrive, at least 3 years.

You PSU is the Power Supply Unit. If yours is relatively old, you'll probably have to get a bit better one in order to run new hardware.

Hmm, I'm not sure if you can check PSU output somewhere on the PC itself, but if you open your case up there should be a label on the PSU that says what the output is. It should be in Watts. If it's anything below 400, you're probably going to have to get a new one as most modern GPUs require at least about 350watt PSUs.

Any chance you can check what your PSU output is?
