    Default Excel Help!

Hey, I'm having problems with vlookup.

Basically, if you look at the attached image, I'm trying to get the average temperature for each year, now i have the average temperature for each month of a year between 1855-2010, but I want to use vlookup to search a year and for it to give me the average for that year from the multiple monthly averages for that year. Can someone help me?

You can't do it with a vlookup since it can only look up a single value. You'll need to use a pivot table, or just manually take the average of each year. To automate it so it can handle any year you'd need to do a pivot table.
