    Default The Library

Located on the third floor of Hogwarts, the library is filled with books pertaining to almost any subject in the Wizarding world. Students may come here to study, research for some assignments, or find a quiet place to relax and read. The library also features a restricted section, filled with books about the study and practice of Dark Magic and the like, only teachers are allowed to access this area, but students may attempt to sneak in if they have the right items to do so.

Augustus arrives in the library, looking for any books that contain information on thestrals, in particular their blood.
After a bit of searching, he locates "Fantastic Beasts and where to find them" in it's newest edition, and locates the section on theorized usage of Thestral body parts. After finding the required information, he leaves the book and exits the library. He takes with him, however, a book listing the currently known wand makers, hoping to continue his research in private.

James led Gregory to the library, opened up the restricted area, then locked the door behind them so they would remain undisturbed...

    "Okay,"
    he said quietly
"We are looking for any book on Hogwarts history or written account. Most likely an old book maybe even by one of the founders."

Gregory felt almost at home between all those books. He went to one side of the library and said: 'I will start here. Tell me if you find something useful'

Gregory was the first to find some clues. He turned to James and said: 'Come look. I have found a small message from the daily prophet of 1561. It is hard to read, but it shows that the chamber existed at that time already!'

Atticus arrived at the library one evening with a note from Professor Maldow. Upon presenting it to Ms. Pice he was admitted, grudgingly, into the restricted section. Once there he poured over a number of books, including not only any magical theory books, but anything that might lead him to the location of the Marauder's Map. The books on magical theory were proving quite useful. His initial musings regarding the correct way to manufacture a spell had indeed been correct...A Guide to Magical Theory by Juniper Gillow was proving most useful. Atticus was confident that this spell would work well once it was finally hammered out. He looked forward to showing his professor the research he had concluded.

The information regarding the map, however, was scarce. It wasn't mentioned in anything in particular. It seemed to be referenced in the prologue to the revised copy of Hogwarts and the Final Stand Against Darkness but other than that, there was very little. Still, he gleaned what he could, took notes, and packed up to leave.

Evie, walked in slowly with her wild white hair loose and her big robe casually put on, she looked around with curious eyes and smiled slightly when she saw Ms. Pice. She walked over to her and waited to get the lady's attentions, she wished to look at a book index so that she could plan which books to lend and plan her long term study.
After some hours there(If one wish some Rp you can interrupt in these.) she walked away with The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 3
by Miranda Goshawk a third year book Intermediate Transfiguration plus a copy of the History of Hogwarts and A History of Magic by Bathilda Bagshot and lastly a old dusty book on the creation of magical items.. She then made for the peace and quiet by the lake where she would read to her hearts content. And it was there she could be found a lot of the time, reading.

One quiet day Drake wandered in the Library, he had found himself at 'Dark Arts' section. A Book named 'Curses and their Effects' got into his eye. Drake took the book and found himself a seat and started to read it.

He surfed around the book for something interesting, after the title 'Dark Curses for Dark Wizards' popped up, he stopped surfing and started to read...

"It is said that Dark Wizards only used unforgivable curses, but this is not true at all. Here is a small list of their not-unforgivable favourites: Axelo, Confringo, Conjunctivis, Fiendfyre, Flagrante, Averte Statum and Sectumsempra."

Drake continued reading through until he saw instructions how to cast these spells, he decided to borrow the book and read it more...

ooc; since dark storm is taking forever to reply, i'm just going to assume he said yes to me using the library.

ic; James entered the library, and was astonished. Shelves upon shelves upon shelves of books met him. The room was enormous. Just looking at the place he knew that he had made the correct decision coming here. Somewhere in that massive collection of books there had to be something he wanted. Or at the very least should he find that there is no books on what he wants then he would know that books are not the way forward.

Smiling at the sight of the pile he wonders where he should begin, when he sees a witch staring at him out of the corner of his eyes. He was vaguely aware that the library was supervised by Madam Pince and assumed it must be her. Shrugging slightly he assumes that she must be confused by the sight of a grown wizard studying the library - or at least one who isn't a professor.

James thinks for a moment, and decides that the best method of narrowing his search down is to speak to the lady. And so puts on his best smile - though he has no idea if it is a charming smile or not - and makes his way over.

Good day Madam. I wonder if you could help me. The headmaster has graciously granted me access to the library, and i must confess myself surprised at its size. I know what it is i am searching for, but have no idea where to begin.

A long day begins, as he tests the ladies extensive knowledge on all books within her domain. A struggle at first as James is reluctant to outright say what he is searching for - Animagus studies being recorded by the ministry as they are - but eventually he begins to narrow things down. Finding himself in the restricted section, he takes advantage of the Madams distraction with students and claims the book he wants. Animagus and a study on how. Then letting her palm him off with a side book he goes to begin studying it.

The door opened and Milo Forsyth enters the Library. Walking towards the librarian, he asks :

-Madam, I'm sorry to interrupt, but we need a substitute for Charms. Could you please close the library and substitute for Professor Gaputa? It's either this, or I'll combine my class with his... and I don't want to do that.

Seeing the librarian nod in agreement, Milo had no choice than to accept this turn of events.

-Ok, I'll show you where the class is, follow me.

And with that, Milo and James leaved the library.

Evie was exhausted. What with her Quidditch practice and homework for all her classes and Private Lessons with the Dark Arts Teacher, she hadn't had the time to relax and really socialize. Even now she still wasn't socializing, she was heading to the library to study and finish up the last of her homework before the weekend. She figured that if she took a break now, she would have to take time from her weekend to study. She really didn't want to do that, and in all honesty she probably wouldn't even remember that she needed too. Her Weekends was important to have free, she used those to find a empty classrooms and practice becoming an Animagus with what little Intermediate Transfiguration could offer of help.

It wasn't that she didn't enjoy school, in fact she rather loved it. She just didn't enjoy the excessively long essays on spells or creatures or potion ingredients. But she did the work anyway because she wanted to learn as much as she could. Evie often told herself that she did the homework to satisfy her curiosity of the magic world, even if that wasn't the exact truth. If she didn't tell herself that, she was convinced that her homework would never get done.. She did it to make her family proud, to keep the name Silver one people say with respect.

She pushed open the library door with her back, her arms being full of books. The door swung open easily and she turned, rolling off of the door swiftly. Smells of dust and old books invaded her nose as she shuffled through the library. It reminded her a bit of her old grandfathers study-room she would go to with her brother back home. Her brother loved reading, and since she was often babysat by him, Evie would be dragged along. Much of her summers were spent in the 'library' with her elder brother, and so coming in here now made her just a tad homesick. But she knew.. Her home was burned down. And there was not one to welcome her home.

Rapidly scanning the library, she made her way through the library, passing the enormous bookshelves. Glancing upward at the shelves, Evangelina felt sure that there was no way anyone could actually read all of these, even if they stayed up 24/7 for all their seven years of school. There were just so many books that it seemed impossible. Then again, she did believe in the impossible, and she had a substantial amount of confidence that Madam Pince knew every single book in the library. The librarian may not have read them all, but she probably knew when something was missing, or would know the title of any book a student was looking for.

She reached the student's study area, and immediately set her things upon the closest empty table. Her foot wrapped around one of the chair legs and pulled it out from the table. She collapsed into the seat and held the edge of the table, pulling herself to it. Setting her Defense Against the Dark Arts book in front of her, she opened it up to where she had left her parchment. She had been previously working on this homework in the Hufflepuff common room, but with all the students that drifted in and out, it was hard to concentrate all the time. The girls dorm wasn't much better, so she had decided to come here, the library, where she knew it was going to be quiet.

Evie cleared her head, and began to focus in. Defence Against the Dark Arts, while not her favourite class, was one of the most informative and interesting classes at Hogwarts. And the most important for as she wanted to be a Auror, It didn't have the easiest homework, but because she found the subject intriguing, it was easy to apply herself to it. Her grey eyes hastily scanned the text, browsing for any material to help her with her essay. She twiddled the pages between her fingers, the parchment of the book still firm from disuse.

Violeta enters the Library and starts to look around for books about flight, various Divinitation topics, and some other mattters. She finds several and sits down at a table to begin reading them, as if looking for something particular.
