Default Handing Hannibal his Hat, in one day or less...

Rather than admit defeat at Tresamine, I took the battle to the big H, and brought more than he could handle. the key is springing his ambush with a single scout unit, allowing yourself to engage with the army of Nepos on much better terms.... see the attatched .png for battle details.

hmmm... post won't load attachments, sorry for the waste of space. To bad, epic battle, Hannibal lost 1700, I lost 300.

That's a shame, don't you have screen shots? I gave Hannibal a dam good thrashing too! I was disappointed, I hoped he would live up to his reputation

In my Roman campaigns I let Hannibal ambush Nepos, as it is what happened historically. I don't mind him getting his ass beat, honestly. I have other armies that can deal with Hannibal.

Yup, I just shipped armies from Sicily, Iberia and Greece then bolstered them with fresh units from Rome

No, I even preped a detailed AAR as a .png, I just cannot seem to attatch it to the post. Juno's teats ! That is galling. The attatchment, a 6 mb , simply loads forever...

For some reason when I end my turn Hannibal never attacks me at Tresamine. He goes off and besiges one of my towns where upon I give Gaius' army more units and I attack Hannibal while he's siegeing. It always works out (unless my game CTD's)

BTW, if you do take him out before turn 3, do the First Roman Rebellions still happen?

i always have a huge amount of trouble trying to kill Hannibal's army first turn, so i just pull the scout thing like you but attack the other army that's not Hannibal, i can get a heroic on him and pretty much lose around 200-300 then i attack Hannibal with whats left and i was able to do 700 kills to his 1100....he didn't attack Arretium, he just fled back to Genoa for like 10 turns until i cornered him with 2 legions and destroyed what was left, it was nice to not pull troops out of Spain, Sicily or Greece for once
