    Default (Diagon Alley) The Greyhouse

    The Greyhouse

A bookshop owned by Gregory Greyhouse selling mostly educational books and essays. It is also home to often held meetings for like minded people.

Below is a large oval room with book cases at all sides. The floor is covered with a big soft carpet in yellow/orange colours. At the very end of the room, opposite of the entry door is a raised floor used for presentations. At both sides in the middle of the room are staircases. One leading to the private quarters of Gregory Greyhouse and one leading to the warehouse which is in the cellar.
The general atmosphere is of an old-fashioned yet decent book shop.

Large meetings can be held after an appointment is made. Price to be discussed.

The big wooden doors made a crunching sound when they were opened by Gregory. They hadn't been used often this last year, Gregory thought. But now with the defeat of youknowwho Gregory expected to make some profit again. He lost too much money in these past months. Worried about his 4500 Galleons debt, he prepared his shop for hopefully, the coming customers.
He had ordered the books needed by the students for Hogwarts and he hoped this would give him some profit.

Atticus entered the shop with a list of books, looking almost lost

Gregory, seeing a possible customer enter, rushes towards the kid, eager to finally earn some money. He gracefully stands still and asks slowly: 'Going to Hogwarts, boy? Which year?'

The door opened and a wizard in blue robes entered. Gazing around, he saw a pale child looking lost in the center of the room.
-Hello, Mr. Greyhouse? I'm looking for a book, said he as he approached the bookshelves.

Atticus flinched as the old man rushed towards him, concerned he would be unable to stop

Err, hello sir. Yes, my first year...

    He handed Gregory his booklist

    Do you carry these?

The bell rings as the door to the Greyhouse opens. An aged man with a stern and disciplined face entered the shop. He wore rather dark clothing; a shiny brown-colored tie and brown shirt under a black overcoat and pants. The man walked into the shop and glanced around before walking off to find a particular book that he had heard of. As it involved his department, Viktor believed it would be of great interest to buy Blackwood Beasts from this book store. He began scanning the shelves for it.

Gregory sees a wizard in blue robes enter as well. Before he could hear what the man asked, he said: 'Please wait a moment, sir. I will be right with you. Make yourself comfortable.' And he points to the old, yet comfortable chairs at the side of the room. He turns to the boy who hands over his booklists. 'Give me a moment and I will gather those books for you, boy'. Gregory quickly turns and starts searching for the required books.

    - Mr. Greyhouse, could you please drop me an owl whenever you have time? I'm looking for this book - Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. You can find me at Hogwarts, I teach Transfiguration there.

Turning to the aged man and slowly raising his hand for a handshake:

    - Hello sir, I'm Milo Forsyth, Transfiguration Professor at Hogwarts.

Viktor notices someone raise their hand to him. He stands up to his full height...he was relatively tall. He raised his pale hand and gripped it firmly.

Viktor Sverre...Head of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures.

His voice was deep and rather unpleasant. It was his Norwegian heritage, as his mother once complained about back when he was a teenager.

Violeta arrives, reviewing her list as she walks around waiting to find a employee of the shop.

-Hello Mr. Sverre, nice meeting you. Your people helped me once or twice when the situation got tight with some .... creatures, said the professor, not wanting to alert the children.
Right, I'll be off now. I hope you don't mind me dropping by your office sometimes this year, Mr. Sverre. I have someting to share about certain magical creatures.

My doors are open, Mr. Forsyth...a pleasure to meet you.

Viktor would turn and walk away then. An unimpressed look came across his face once he turned. Typical teachers...Viktor then finally reached the right section and pulled out a copy of Blackwood Beasts

    Thank you, sir.

Atticus waited for Gregory to return with the books and looked around the shop. It was filling up fast with wizards, though Atticus didn't know any of them...

Weatherby Wiggins pushed the door open to the Greyhouse, seeking to acquire his required texts for the year. The boy was doe-eyed; so much was happening so quickly, now that he was to enter Hogwarts. The books, the wands, the supplies - his head was spinning with nerves and excitement. When he entered he saw a line of wizards waiting to be helped, and sheepishly began leafing through the pages of a few display copies, too nervous to make his presence known to the shopkeep just yet.

Cecil enters, his eyes rapidly moving from his list to the many books around him. He never was particularly bookish, and would really like to get back to ogling the Firebolt at Dervish and Banges instead of spending his time here.

Realising that every one of the classroom set books in his class is missing at least one full chapter, Professor White comes to ask Mr. Greyhouse if he can perchance purchase 30 copies of either 'Potions and the Modern Wizard' or some other (cheap) potions book... that hopefully isn't too different from PatMW.

Xander stumbled out of the store, burdened by the stack of books he had bought, 80 Galleons out of pocket.

Tristan carefully makes his way into the shop. He lunged into his pocket, withdrawing a crumpled, badly worn list of books and other reading materials needed for Hogwarts. Looking at the growing group of students in the shop, he suspected he was not alone in this desire.
