    Default After battle CTD's

    So, after 3-4 fullstack battles i will eventually get an CTD after the 5th battle.

    Everything is set to what it should be, default vegetaion, no AA etc etc.
    My GFX has 1gb of ram and i have 4gb system ram, surely this should be more than enough.

    Am i the only one getting these after battle ctd's, all the time pretty much?

    I get plenty at first too. Are you using steam?

    Try disabling your internet and turning off any AV (in that order, of course!).

    Even though I don't have CTDs any more (touch head), I still save before each battle and end-of-turn......habit now.

    If you are having that many battles in a turn, however, I suspect you are playing for hours at a time. I don't believe they ever really fixed the memory-leak issue (although they {CA} tried); so I'd genuinely recommend a break every now and again and restart the PC.

    The reason why is because you need to give your computer a rest. If your doing 4 fullstack battles back to back, you need to give it a little rest. If you do your CTD's will go down

    Its nearly impossible not to play 3-4 full stack battles within a few turns, even more so when the late rebellion hits.

    What .exe are you using? I remember when I used ALX I used to get CTD alot, then I switched to BI and so far not 1 crash.

    I use Huge units and unlimited men on Battle. My game crashed once because there was so many units on the battle but thats probably cause of my GPU(GTX 460). I recommend trying Rome or Alex's .exes maybe one will work better for you. P.S. I play with autosaves on and no random crashes so far. But thats PC gaming on some computers the game run runs perfectly and on some its crashtastic.

    Also, make sure Autosave is set to False. Autosave will cause CTD's at any random moment.

    Wait for the music to end on the results screen before exiting the battle as well.

    I've experienced random CTD's after battles and with autosave turned off. Alot of times it is completely random but other times you can prevent it. As recommended wait for the music to end and the end results screen to pop up. But in addition wait a full minute to click exit.

    When I started waiting a full minute my random after battle CTD's went down to Zero

    I know all the tricks and tips to avoid crashes and i use them.

    Waiting 1-2 minutes before clicking continue does work sometimes, but as i said, after the 4-5th fullstack battle i've tried waiting 5 minutes and it will still crash when the loading bar reaches 99%.

    Im just wondering wether i am the only one getting this, because the game works fine otherwise and i have no performance issues except for 6000+ battles.

    I got the same problem like you do, usually after fighting a very glorious battle which the fate of my empire depends upon (so to speak) I get a CTD, which ruins the fun immensly.

    Wait 30 seconds to a minute before exiting the battle which will greatly reduce the CTDs.

    See, another one.. Pyrric victory, took half an hour or something to play, bam CTD.. Waited atleast two minutes before exiting.

    It really isn't an RS bug as such, more of an RTW age thing, ie the game engine just doesn't work past 2GB RAM it doesn't use multiple-cores and it isn't optimised for newer systems so sometimes with all the processing power required after multi-stack battles it just will not cope well.

    You can try to ameliorate the effects by trying auto-win on a few of those, as you say you are at a stage where you know you will win those battles just force the issue. It may not eradicate the CTD's but it may help.

    Why it happens more with RS is as DVK said in a thread today (forget which one), that maxes the environment, ie detail on the background, veg, unit details etc and that just stresses the underlying engine.
