Battle Crash

I have medieval total war2 gold edition (download from gamestop) and I've installed third age 3.0. I have deleted the files desc new geography (both) and I'm still having complications: Third Age runs fine for about five minutes, then lags in intervals. For example, it will lag on campaign map and also on the battle map, and then after two or three minutes of lag, it will clear up and run PERFECT...for a few minutes. Then the cycle repeats itself. I've manipulated graphics setting to their lowest, however the game still performs this cycle of lagging. I've never encountered this in the kingdoms mods, just third age. I have not unpacked the game. If anyone has encountered this problem please let me know if there is a solution.

Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date.

They all should be free, and you need the ones according to what graphics card you have.

Go to control panel: Device Manager: display adapter, and you should find your graphics card. Click on your graphics card, click on Drivers, and then click on update drivers.

HI there! i've been playing the 3.2 mod again... im not the greatest at modding or fixing... but i have tried to follow as many threads as possible when it comes to fixing it myself... Im pretty sure i installed everything correctly... im fighting sauron and he has a huge army and I have full army and some reinforcements... but before i get too far into the battle the game keeps crashing... ive tried lowering the game graphics and updating my drivers... ive tried deleting geo files and undoing daylight savings... I tried using as admin but the game then says my kingdoms exe cant be found... im playing on steam and have win 10....help? also.... so far the third age shortcut has been working beyond the recent crashes... Thx in advance

I've a quite similar problem with the 3.2 mod of TATW
I can do every battles which are on little cities or in field but when I try a battle in a city with a specific architecture (like Minas Tirith, Edoras, Isengard, Dale) the game keeps crashing...
Do anyone know why ?

Do you have Windows or Mac? Are those battles which crash custom battles, or in a campaign?

mine is the main campaign... avoided him and it worked fine...sometimes it crashed on black gates or around the hills of gundabad.... but mostly i found ways of avoiding the crash... i recently tried attacking sauron while he had only himself in the army and the crash happened again... i dont think its processing issues... help...?

Lag is going to be a graphics/hardware problem. Have you tried turning down some of the graphic settings in the game?

Hmm, it's possible the Gamestop version could have something wrong with it. It might still be a hardware problem though. Since you're also having a problem with Kingdoms campaigns make a thread in the M2TW Technical Help forum. If it is a hardware problem irishron, who frequents that section, should be able to help you.

I am also having a issue with battles in M2TW I bought the gold addition game and in all games (Americas,Vanilla, etc.) I get the "Medieval 2 Total War has Encountered an Unspecified error and will now exit". I did attempt the daylight savings thing so its not that. Kind of a pain when your in the middle of a battle and it crashes so anyone can help it would be appreciated.

Hi, I'm getting a very specific CTD error with the "Medieval 2 encountered etc" message. It only happens during larger battles, seemingly when there's reinforcements involved. The game either freezes and I have to ctrlaltdel out or it pops up with the error message after a small freeze. I've tried deleting all the files that have been suggested in multiple threads, tinkering with permissions, the clock thing and lowering settings to lowest. Nothing has worked so far and I really doubt it has anything to do with my PC performance. Just in case here's a speccy anyway: http://i.imgur.com/HhhYT0p.jpg

Only thing I haven't tried so far is reinstall but I'd like to leave that as a last resort since I don't want to lose my campaign and start for the third time from scratch. Any help would be appreciated.

Wow i am having the problem with the last kingdom i uss to with 3rd age but the time thing worked so im reasing these threads and changed time and date didnt do a thing so I tried turn off daylight savings time and for a half a second complete joy as i saw the army and poof gone odin said haha again grrr

I've had the most computer bizarre experience. I have had repeated CTDs during battles recently. My computer wasn't recognising my Viewsonic monitor. I tried all the orthodox driver replacements etc. Nothing happened.

In desperation I came across this "Black magic" method: unplug your monitor's video and power cables, wait a bit and reboot.

Couldn't work, could it?

. It did! Back to normal. Possibly Saruman had my monitor under an evil spell?

ATM, there is nothing we can do, unless someone comes up with another model/fix for these units.

For example, I never had a crash with Sauron, Mumakil, Ents, Trolls, spiders. It differs from PC to PC (personal computers/laptops).

dang! oh well thank you good to know... havent tried ents mumakil balrogs or spiders since the last comp i tried this on 6 years ago....... trolls seem to be fine though... is there any worth to trying to vanilla version that is hanging around these halls?

There are many good submods for TATW, some are CPU/GPU more demanding than the vanilla TATW, like MOS, DaC.

Have you tried running your kingdoms.exe in Windows 7 Compatibility mod? Win 10 sucks at this game engine (Medieval II TW game engine).
