Having Multiple Mods?

I know this question has been asked on multiple threads: copy rtw folder, download mods there, lalala, but there are still some things I don't get...
1) I copy C:/Program Files(x86)/steam/steamapps/common/Rome Total War Gold right? No further?
2) Where do I copy it to? In the same folder(in steam/steamapps/common)?
3) When I download a mod, will the launcher be put into the folder, or will a new game appear in Steam, or something like that? Because I'm pretty sure from my tiny understanding of computers, that you can't launch a folder.

In regards to your questions:
1. That's right, copy the entire Rome Total War Gold folder.
2. Anywhere, but putting it in the steam folder may cause problems. It's better to find an alternate place. For instance, create a folder on your desktop, and paste it there.
3. Most mods come with their own .exe, and install instructions for steam users. You could try asking on the specific mods forums about this, as I have no experience with the steam version of RTW.
