Default Le champs mortels`(the fields of death) Fantasy mod teaser & battle videos 05//04/2012

"Les Champs Mortels" (the fields of death)
is a mod is a fantasy mod done in a western European style (heavily French, Spanish & Italian)
it takes place on another planet ( a primarily Jungle/semi-arid world)
but on this planet its civilisation has reached its medieval period while the planet is still in the final stages of its prehistoric & more chaotic phase (so lotsa volcanoes & stuff)

the map is huge (even though it is only 130 regions) & has alot of features not seen in other maps like many new textures & the map has been optimized for strategic play!
new music, new ui/graphics etc. almost everything
    new buildings & more!
there will be fourteen factions heavily modified all New banners, symbols, music, descriptions, unit cards, battlefield skins etc. everything!

this is a relatively new project at this time but I will eventually heavily modify everything!
but most ui (game play menus, banners, symbols etc.) is already done, all mixed media (music etc.)
almost all factions reskinned just two to go out fifteen) (a lot of new buildings etc.) for instance I have greatly expanded the movement points ( it is totally unrealistic it would take an army several years to march from Toulouse to Paris, months yes so the mod is three months per turn it will take about three turns as an example)
I have expanded on recruitment slots & this includes making peasant archers recruitable from a town guard & up etc.) this is just some of things I will change
although I do not have a modeller helping me
(if someone with those skills reads this please pm me~)
there will be no new units (outside of ones based on changing textures & text) & ones already in game will be totally re-skinned & heavily modified

actually looking at this map I think it a good idea to add one more faction anIslamic one just below Leon & west of Aragon like this:

I can pretty much do everything~ but I ddo need BIG, BIG, help if I am to add new units
    so modellers help!
& also if I want to make this as acurate as can be I will need again BIG, BIG help for faction descriptions & events
    so historians & researchers help!
    thank you

I`m finished with the basic map (tested it works fine) now to craft the geography then add regions & stuff~ I think cause I am including the Navarre I should take out the Savoy or Vice`versa

Default Re: Le champs de la mort (the fields of death) French/spanish total war

ok the map heights has been majorly tweaked to accomodate very precise accurracy in the placement of settlements & which ones they are, the total region count is only 81 regions ( I may sqeez in about 10 more) right now the map reprasents two thirds of France & two thirds of Iberia but if interest grows I will gladly enlarge the map & include all of France & spain
& also part of northern Africa
    & add
the factions of portugal, le Dauphine`, & Le Comte` Brabant
I have the skills to do all of this but if these new factions are to have battlefield textures I need help with the battlemodels file ( I am already using france for burgundy and portugal for Aragon) but as is the factions already in game
    the Savoy
    Aquitane
    Burgundy
    Genova
    Leon-castilla
    Granada
    will all be totally complete

A little note : in french, the fields of death is translated "Les champs de la mort".

    There's an edit button Druvatar.
Also, what time is this? It would be either Graafschap Brabant or Hertogdom Brabant, no fancy french.

well if that is what he is saying I do not know where he gets "those" really special! & unique mods because All my mods use completly unique & new maps, ( granted although some of the ui is borrowed from ones I have already done) I will say in my opinion of course! they reflect some of the best graphics work on TWC! I really wish he posted a link to the site were he gets those "better" mods ya I guess we have all beccome to "simple-minded" here at TWC & also I think my mods are very, very original whats he want "Smurf total war"!

    nothing grand, only seven factions
    Aragon (spanish)
    Navarre (spanish)
    Leon Castllla (spanish)
    Le Duchie De Aquitane (french)
    Burgundy (french)
    Le Duchie De Savoy (french/italian)
    Genova (italian)
but these factions will be totally re-skinned & re-worked almost completly!
everything from the campaign map to event images will be new! (although alot of content will be borrowed from my mod "Claimants, hiers & conquerors: Tempsta` Meditterreano`"
since this project is just "budding" in my mind today all I have is an initial/conceptual map to show but in a few days when I am "rolling" with this~ I will have many screens
some things I really aim to do with this is create a unique new map of the specified area which will have room for a good 140-50 regions & is as possible an authentic geographic reprasentation of the Southern french land basin, the Pyrenees mountains, the edges of the western french & Italian alps & central Iberia
May I correct some French words there and there?

The Fields of Death --» Les Champs Mortels. More appropriate.
Duchy of Aquitaine --» Duché d'Aquitaine
Duchy of Savoy --» Duché de Savoie
    Burgundy --» Duché de Bourgogne
    Genoa --» Comune di Genova
Navarre --» Reino de Navarra or Nafarroako Erresuma (Basque)
Castille and Leon --» Castilla y León
Crown of Aragon --» Corona de Aragón or Corona d'Aragón (Aragonese)

Also, what is the aim of the mod? What is the timeframe? It is a historical or a fictional campaign? MOre information will be great to see.

    @Polycarpe
the mod is 1350 through 1575 (4 turns per year)
it is not about a specific conflct or historical figure but it is a mod dedicated to the French powers & Spanish powers in the area of the map,
the mod on many levels aims for & is very, very historically acurate but you can also say it is fantasy because my own individual "tastes" will take precedent when needed but for the most part pretty historical~

I honestly don't think the guy (welldone) should've been banned. He was (kinda) giving advice. I don't agree with the methods, but this is my opinions. Get a team together, learn how to map using a double layer on GIMP so that the map comes out looking very much like the area being represented, and just do some more original things. I hope I don't sound too harsh, but you'd get a lot of people to play your mods if you did these things, because the ideas are usually very good but the execution isn't. If you got a team together, you'd probably be able to do all the 2-D Art (which I think is your strength as a modder), recruit someone who can make new units (the "Vanilla" units are the reason not many people are interested in your mods) and then learn to make a very accurate map, which would definitely help. These are just my suggestions, I hope you take them well and consider using some of them.

well I have tried but getting a team together is not something I see happening
for several reasons: most other skilled modders already have thier own projects interests
& also I am not the kinda of person to "prostitute" myself to get peopled to help~ I am open to offers to help enthusiastically! but almost no one with"real" skills has offered to aid me~ plus I am fine with my mods being what they are! Although the are not epic like some of the Classics they reflect some pretty good work by a single modder!
