    Default War against the Gallaecei

I'm playing as Rome in a 0-turn campaign, I have defeated Carthage in North Africa, and find that usually against most opponents, I am averaging say 10%-25% casualties in most scenarios. However, I have just now entered into war against the Gallaecei, and find that my casualties sky rocket, say to 40%-50. Logistically, I am at a great distance from any re-supply! I find that I'm constantly fighting a defensive war and struggling to hold onto my possessions in Iberia

What tips do other Roman players have for fighting their hordes? Any help would be appreciated!

They are supposed to be hard, historically Iberia cost Rome huge numbers of men to fully pacify and their units are just very good against your standard Roman ones. You could try and hire mercs if you have the money to do so and match their units with similar style, but they're not going to be easy no matter what.

[edit] Yes, I know some people will turn around and say they are easy. Good for you.

i would suggest to not count exclusively on the legions you can train in italy, focus on building good allied troops using africans and iberian mercenaries and the massive allied troops you can recruit in massalia
Gallaeci skirmishers, especially the falarica's eat alive the legions, while the infantry isn't that though so focus on countering the skirmishers ecc ecc with your cavalry( i would use numidian cavalry, ligurian nobles or campanian cavalry) and ranged troops( slingers, numidian cavalry, libian skirmishers)
To hold the front line i suggest celtiberian spearmen/lybian spearmen or, as alwais , mercenaries from massalia like massalian spearmen, thorakitai, hoplites

I experienced their strong resistance to -
I solved this by putting an army on ships with mission to raid their Capital and coastal towns - this reduced effectively their ability to generate these massive troop replacements. Burn everything down and leave.

    But they were still dangerous!

And they were replaced with Roman Rebels? And they were a walkover?

Many players would call that particular moove incorrect Btw i think that with the new patch this type of moves are more difficult

well, if you go fight against the Gallaeci, try to get some more cavalry in your stacks, it's their weakness

yep on one on one they are inferior, but 3 equites will definitely beat one gallaeci armoured cavalry quickly, and it's simple defeat in details afterwards

Is Carthage still in Iberia? Or did you destroy them as a faction in N. Africa?

Carthage are still there, but only in Baikor, and they don't seem to be in force. I'm in control of the Eastern provinces along the coast down to the tip at Gadir. Thank you all for your advice. I'm still learning to adapt my tactics to fighting them. I'm using more Numidian and Averaci medium cavalry in my stacks, and things are going better. Its still a struggle though. Any other tips are always appreciated!

Against any army with lots of horse archers, I make sure I have two or three foot archers. They have a longer range, so the horse archers can't play hit and run without taking casualties, like they could easily do against any other unit. Even after taking a beating from my archers, they're usually the last ones standing, so I'll use several cavalry units (or the whole army) to surround them, rather than trying to chase them all over the map.

The Gallaecei are a pain, but you'll miss them when they are gone. I love the game of "Keep Emporiae alive" early on the in Roman campaign, even if it does involve abusing mercenaries hehe. And then later on, after you have finally purged the last Gallaeci settlements in Spain (and probably some in N. Africa as well) you'll be like "wow, this front is finally closed...I'm bored now." I reckon that's what really happened to the 9th, they just got bored and disbanded. (kidding)
