Third Age CTD (Unspecified Error.)

Hello,

I am having a Unspecified error regarding Third Age total war.

I downloaded and installed both parts of Third Age, then downloaded the 3.1 patch which installed correctly. I downloaded and installed under my admin account which currently is the only account on my system.

I entered the game to start a campaign as Gondor on the hardest settings. I went to invade Eastern Othgilliath (Sorry for incorrect spelling) only to have the game crash to desktop (CTD) when loading up the battle. I tried,

Moving the descr_geography_new file to my desktop, removing it from the game files.

This helped much, letting me enter the battle, but only to have the error;

"Medieval Total War 2: Kingdoms has stopped working, pop up followed by a CTD.
......................

I then tried deleting my map.rwm along with downloading a new Campaign_script from this site
on another thread for this mod. This infact made the problem worse by far, making the game crash at
the end of every turn with the "Unspecified error" problem again.

I cannot find my Log file anywhere, after looking for it through the whole of my MTW2 files along with
the Third Age Files. If you need the log then you'll have to tell me where or how to find it.

It seems the best thing you can do is re-install TATW again mate.

Wait first give us the following information:
What patch is your Medieval 2 Kingdoms?
What version of Windows are you running?


This might sound weird but if you have Windows 7 this might be the problem. Click on the time box (on the bottom right of your screen?), disable 'auto adjust for daylight savings time'. Then restart your computer, and try a battle of TATW. Your case sounds like a strange bug we just had a thread about, and that daylight savings time thing turned out to be the culprit.

I have the exact same problem, and it seems a lot of people have it. It's one of the major bugs, if not THE biggest bug in TATW. No offence guys, i LOVE this mod but this needs to get sorted. I reinstalled 4 times and I'm pretty sick of doing it

I have the very same problem, but only with Cair Andros, gondor campaign aswell. I reinstalled two times now, also tried the day light savings time trick. I do hope there is a solution for this as it spoils the fun of this mod which is awesome.

First thing to check is to disable daylight savings time.

For Windows 7: Click on the clock on the taskbar, click "Change Date and Time Settings," click "Change Time Zone," then finally uncheck the box that says "Automatically adjust for Daylight Savings Time."

For Windows XP double click on the clock, select the "Time Zone" tab then uncheck the box for day light savings time.

I have the exact same problem as those above i have tried re installing, doing this ^^(changing my clock to that of a timezone which actually has daylight savings as i do not have it in my tiomezone) , deleting the descr_geography_new, deleting the map.rwm (which reappears each time you try and initiate a battle) and nothing seems to work it is so irritating and i wish it would be fixed > i just simply cant get rid of the problem i have tried everything!! all i wish to do is play third age but it is simply impossible!! Could you give us more info about your problem, when does it happen, during some battle, or hitting END Turn, during AI turn.. ?

And, answer these few questions so we can know what instructions to give you if reinstallation is needed:

3. Have you installed all four TATW Installers ( 3.0 part 1 and part 2, 3.1 Patch, 3.2 Patch ) ?

the problem occors after the loading of a battle i have tried a campaign battle, a quick battle and a custom battle what happens is the battle loads and as the loading bar fills or is about to fill it crashes with the unspecified error box appearing (everything works until i try and start a battle)

Steam installation is a bit tricky, I don`t know what installation method did you use, but, this one with renaming one of your Kingdoms campaign folders works.
Go here and reinstall using these steps ( be sure to edit the security for your main m2tw folder as shown in the thread with pictures -link is provided for that thread).

I am using steam version on windows 7, installed it properly and when i try to start the campaign it crashes to the desktop screen when the loading bar is full, i also tried the daylight saving thing but still crashes.

We need more info regarding this:

1. What Windows do you have?

2. Is your M2TW steam or non steam version?

3. Have you installed all four TATW Parts/Patches up to 3.2 version ?

4. No TATW Submods installed?

5. You haven`t made any changes in TATW files on your own, like, edited some files or tried to mod them?

6. When does the battle crash happen, when you click Load Battle or Start Battle?

7. No reinforcements involved on either side of the battle?

i have windows 8. i have a non steam version. it happens with mod( baron samedi´s mod) but also without mods. the only changes that i´ve made was that i deleted the geographic files and map.rwm file. it always crashes when loading bar is almost full. it happens when i have reinforcements involved and also when there aren´t any involved. the crashes i quite randomly. sometimes it works. i have probably a 65% chance of being able to play a land battle but siege battles they almost all crash. also near cities like minas thirith its almost nigh impossible to play a battle wether its a siege or a land battle. right now im reinstalling TATW to see if this time it works( the other times i reinstalled it. it didnt make any difference).

until now the game hasn´t crashed . already fought 4 battles many of them siege and it isnt crashing.
