    Default Checking PC upgrade again.

Maaany months ago I opened a thread to ask which parts should I buy to build a computer capable of maxing BF3 on Full HD/ 60 fps.

    The parts recommended were this

( I already have the OS, the hdd, etc. )

However, when I finally got the money a few days ago and pm'ed Crazyeyesreaper asking for a better motherboard recommendation, he said I should open a new thread and get more updated parts.

He recommended those. ( so far )

    http://www.kabum.com.br/cgi-local/ka...24&tag=P8Z68-V motherboard

HD 7970 ( I picked this one as an example https://www.balaodainformatica.com.b..._hdmi_sapphire

Well, well I'd like to know. Having to update my upgrade ... This is really crushing because I spent a lot of time saving money for it and also newer parts are extremly expensive in Brazil. The 7970 is like a 500 bucks price increase.

I'd like to know if a 7970 really is necessary. I'll spend - a lot - of time playing 2011's games like Skyrim and BF3 and there's many games from past years I didn't get and I'm planning to. And that rig can handle most modern games really well, can't it?

    i said 7870 not 7970

7870 same price as the 6970 but performs better and uses half the power,

ill look into parts when i get some time right now i just dont have much time to spare.

then you might want to wait,

6970 is now old aka last gen means no more performance driver updates aka its old hat AMD doesnt care they will focus on the newer 7000 series, 7870 again faster then a 6970 by a solid 10% notice power consumption on the 7870 is 115-144w at load, 6970 is 202-283 aka double the power consumption less performance as for overclocking and in the end performance per dollar / watt the 7870 clocked up can take on a stock 7970 with relative ease

So with all that said i would suggest calling those sites and seeing if their going to get some HD 7870s in stock, and check local retailers as well, they might be willing to order one, if price is far to high THEN consider a 6970 or 570 etc etc but at this point with both AMD and NVIDIA coming out with new graphics cards, your better off with the newest generation in terms of proper support.

Ugh... more waiting ... okay .

Well, using half the power is definetely a pro for me. Was worried if my Corsair VX 550W could support the rig I planned to buy.

    Well Crazy, a 6970 2GB is currently ~1000 bucks here and a HD 7970 ranges between 1662 and 1762 bucks. 7870 isn't avaible yet.

When it comes out it might cost 1400 bucks maybe. But , would the 7970 be worth it?

yea its worth it 7970 is 40% faster then a 6970 but take a look around see if you can find a GTX 680 they SHOULD be cheaper then the 7970 and are a bit faster. if your gonna spend that much, get the GTX 680 essentially

It might consume an insane amount of power though. That's what seems cool about 7870

Not to mention it'll consume far more power and I only have a corsair vx 550w.

NVIDIA GTX 680 uses less power then the 7970 not by much but at furmark testing its 50w less when gaming its 10w less so no NVIDIA GTX 680 everywhere else in the world is 10% faster then the 7970 uses less power and should be cheaper now in your region a 680 may cost more i cant be sure, but if your gonna spend that much on a GPU makes sense to get the fastest you can get,

other wise 7870 is the best performance per watt and per $ spent, if you cant get one then consider a 6970 that said a 6970 also uses more power then a GTX 680 and is 55% slower vs 7970 the 6970 uses the same amount of power but is 40-45% faster

Well, the VGA Sapphire HD7870 ATI Radeon 2048MB (2GB) DDR5 PCI-Express - 11199-03-20G has just popped up on the site, probably just a matter of time before it's on stock.

Lol, it's actually cheaper than one of the 6970's on the site.
