between these two chicks, who is the better country singer? Especially given that both chicks write their own music as well.

personally i reckon kimberly perry of The Band Perry is the better singer, and the better talent purely because she's hotter Being pleasing to the eye enhances the musical experience, it is known.
i mean, listen to the Perrys' debut (well not really debut, it was their second single) single written by K. Perry:

i mean, listen to that; isn't that more suitable and soothing music to be harassing northerners 'Deliverance' style?? compared to Swift's airy fairy princessy type music which is more suited for gutting pigs and waving the confederate flag around.

Christ, I tried listening to that Gavin Degraw and he sounded like some sissy that would puke if he drank some whiskey, Taylor Swift was also horrible. So I think I will stick to the good old music.

    This.

Both are complete trash, as is nearly every country singer these days though...

yeah, CCR has always been swamp rock.

What gets boring, however, is people assuming that whatever is pushed up front in a specific genre is representative of that music. There are a lot of good modern country / bluegrass bands that don't get nearly as much love as they deserve. Go down to Kentucky and go to a country festival. Hell, go to Beanblossom, Indiana and catch the yearly bluegrass festival that showcases great talent, both old and new!

Personally, I don't consider Swift or Perry country. All it really is, to me, is pop with a Southern drawl. All the lyrics are just the same as tried and true pop songs. Easily made, and easily marketable.
