The SP Campaign notes for players on page 1 has been updated for the v4 release.
It was a long campaign Davn, but thanks for doing it. I am enjoying v4.0 MP, and will try the SP Campaign again soon. Then on to MP campaign. Cheers
I don't have the cool background in the start menu like you do.
Maybe I messed up with the installation?
Thanks for the notice.
Can i ask that i can now play with Ottomans without getting declared war from almost every major nations?.
No promises, but if you set the difficulty settings as shown on page 1 of this thread you should have a decent campaign. Also remember that Austria & Russia are allies so declaring war on one will probably bring the other one into the conflict.
We will also have to adjust the Victory Conditions for the Ottoman scenario with the v4 patch.

I played a bit today and yesterday and noticed one main oddity. Several cavalry units are clearly designed as dragoons, or as shooters, but can't dismount or shoot. I can tell from looking at unit cards in the campaign and custom battle menu, but they don't dismount or shoot? Is this an oversight in terms of not being meant to shoot, or was there a mistake in being unable to dismount?
I've only done this with the Bavaria campaign and it did happen in the campaign, one of the two starting Bavaria cavalry units has this problem.
From what Lord Avon told me most of the Dragoon units at this time had traded their guns for sabers.
All cavalry men had carbines at this time, even cuirassiers, they just very rarely dismounted to use them, or fired from the saddle. They were mostly used by light cav on picquet duties. At various times in Spain due to lack of horses a number of French dragoon units operated dismounted as (rather poor) light infantry.
I read that the French dragoons during the Napoleonic wars were very useful during the fight against the guerilla in Spain, because they could fight in mountainous terrain. Polish author Robert Bielecki noted that in the end most of the dragoon regiments was sent to Spain (escorted convoys, guarded routes, establish small isolated garrisons and chased the Spanish peasants in the mountains.).
Even in his letters to brother Joseph and Marshal Berthier, Napoleon exhorted to treat cuirassiers and dragoons as different types of cavalry and pointed to the inadequacy of cuirassiers officers took positions in dragoon regiments.
French Dragoons were armed with a rifle (with bayonet) model AN XI, gunners and voltigeurs had the same. They also received pistols model 1763 (later changed to a more modern), complemented by a broadsword (model AN IV, IX, XI and XIII) in a leather scabbard.

Practically speaking there is the inevitable problem that dismounted unit uses mounted stats and the way NTW3 unit stat design is, I assume it is more trouble than worth to balance the problem out that statting dragoons like infantry makes them fairly useless as cavalry, and cavalry stats makes them somewhat over-resilient infantry by morale and certain other stats. Those few units which can dismount to fire in NTW3 are statted like infantry to begin with and are smaller in size too, similar to light cavalry Also if one was to be quite pedantic and give firearms for every cavalry class it tends to have some AI trouble where cuirassiers are sometimes busy shooting instead of hacking good target into pieces and whatnot. That of course could be adjusted by tinkering with certain kv_rules stats and even unit stats but that would easily result in even more trouble than it's worth, and I doubt there is any interest to do that at this point of the mod's lifecycle.
I could imagine someone making SP submods to cover some of the issues though.
I think that if the units are not meant to be dismounted then you should take the stats of them. It's confusing to be looking at a cavalry unit before recruiting and you are basically gambling on if it will shoot on horseback or not.
So I am never quite sure if my installation is good or not. Are the troop morale in the campaign meant to be the same as MP? That is, multiplied by 5?
When I fire up the SP campaign, my Guards have morale 10, line 6, etc.
The morale numbers were not changed for the v4 SPC as most of your battles (if not all) are vs the AI armies. We will looking at making some adjustments to these with the v4 patch when we update the SPC for MP Campaigns ~ Lord Davn
