I've read it years ago, but I've forgotten most of what happened in it. All I can really remember is that one of the characters wanted to go to Melbourne after the war, and EDIT: sorry for the spoiler, I thought it was obvious (by the book's title and earlier events)

Well...the book is an extremely good, and rather easy read. It all depends on how far you want to delve into the book's more esoteric themes.

what esoteric themes?!? It is mainly about eating, waiting and dieing and how soldiers coped with it and how senseless everything became for them as there was nothing else inside the world of the frontlines. Good read imo, very grim.
"Sebaceans once had a god called Djancaz-Bru. Six worlds prayed to her. They built her temples, conquered planets. And yet one day she rose up and destroyed all six worlds. And when the last warrior was dying, he said, 'We gave you everything, why did you destroy us?' And she looked down upon him and she whispered, 'Because I can.' "

A very good book, I've even read it several times. Also a good book to do for a report if you need to.

...Please have a mod censor Turnus' post. That's just in poor taste, man.

EDIT: Or change it yourself, of course. Thanks for the prompt spoiler removal!

Malarkey, I haven't seen the movie, but it's won countless awards from several different sources and is considered a classic. My advice for you would be to search on Google for a film/book comparison. They're out their, you just have to know where to look. I still think that you should read the book though, it's fantastic.
