Is there something that can be done about armies deploying on impossibly steep mountains/cliffs? Particularly around Macedon and Greece this comes up fairly often.

Also from much earlier in the thread I didn't see a response to this- just wanted to make you guys aware of something if you didn't know. Playing as Rome, I had just reached the reforms. I let a city in North Africa rebel, and the rebel city then immediately spawned the numbered Legion from that area. My assumption is that this was not intended.

Both have been raised. The first is a function of the map - those nice mountains that look so good at the strategic/campaign level do translate to steep slopes. It would need a whole review of the map to reduce heights (which then may not look as good).

The second, given that you have passed the reforms, is right given the current incarnation. You've had a rebellion, the rebels need troops, and it's done by AOR. Let Roma rebel and it will be nice Late Praetorians!

If I remember Vanilla RTW well enough, you simply couldn't run your units up the steeper slopes. I don't know if that was originally done by fixing every steep slope as "out of bounds" or by something built into the game that recognizes the slopes as too steep and prevents units from going there...if it's a choice between having to endure a few unrealistic battles and some poor schmuck having to spend a month going through every single battle map and fix every hill, I'd much rather just leave it the way it is

I guess I just won't let my cities rebel after the reforms then. It doesn't make sense to me to have a named legion pop up in a rebel settlement as soon as I build the Akragas palace (before even I can make those legions yet). But that's not such a major issue I suppose. There are more important fixes to worry about.

Playing the Galatian campaign, I suddenly noticed this:

    Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Also, when retraining a family member (or ruler its called since 2,5) when viewing the recruitmentscroll I also see a legatus legionis retrained instead of the noble cavalry bodyguards.

Also somewhat important perhaps: I cant recall this was from the beginning... suddenly it changed from noble cavalry bodyguards to a praetorian unit... any ideas?

sorry for the constant complaints but something just happened in my roman campaign.

I diddnt like the guy who would become the next Proconsul so i went to the family tree to change it to a more deserving guy. I noticed then that the only part i can see is the current faction leader, his wife and his 5 yr old son.

    Is this supposed to happen?

It's always worth checking who the Heir is. For when the program assigns them after a Faction Leader dies, then it may well be someone (wholly deserving mind you) outside the current Family. When the FL switches to that person will be the first time you see his family - and yes, it might well be that small.

Take it as an opportunity. Indeed, you might look at a bunch of family's in succession until you find one you like - but it will be pot luck.

No man, that's a special mode. You dress them up as Romans and you can just backstab everyone!

Like in real life, just call them Al'CIAda.
"The only question that remained was whether the founders knew the final result of their creation, or if they themselves where the victims of a misunderstanding.
In the latter case it was the duty of any thinking human, to press himself into the front of this depraved movement, to perhaps still prevent the extreme, in the former case the founders of this peoples disease must have been true devils; for only in the brain of a monster - not of a human - could the plan for an organisation take meaningfull form, whose purpose must lead toward the end result of a collapse of human culture and thus to the desolation of the world.
In this case only battle remained as a means of final delivery, battle with any weapons that the human mind, intellect and will are able to comprehend, regardless, of whom fate would gift with it's blessing."

    Hi Guys,

I played Roma Surrectum 2.0 a year ago without any problems.

Today I installed everything new. Rome TW + Pachtes, RS 2 and the RS 2.5

When I chose a Faction and try to start the game I get this message after few seconds

    Any Idea what went wrong?

I's been address in the next patch.

As for windowed mode, it works on every version in my case.

something minor but still annoying. When fighting the Roman Rebels, the General refers to them as the Gauls in the pre battle speech.

Hi all. The battles on the bridges or river crossings occur CTD'S, this can be arranged or just avoid such battles. Greetings.
