DO Custom battles work?
Hi guys,
can somehow disable the "election" message which appears at the start of every turn?
Played around 40 years/~80 turns with romans yesterday, all is magnificent but this message became very annoying for me...
Thanks.
Hello!
I've just spent this afternoon playing patch 2.5, Arverni 1-turn on BI exe, and noticed unusual progress of my spies! One spy that you start the campaign with, and another spy which I recruited at around turn 6, both got to 10 points of subterfuge extremely quickly: until turn 16!! Sure, I used them a lot, but most of their missions had 100% expected success, and also, in my experience, there weren't enough successful missions to reach 10 subterfuge so quickly.
Cheers!
Paedric: Thanks for the help on my problem with the launcher. I don't know what I or my silly computer did, but it mysteriously started working.

In my Rome 1-turn campaign, it looks like some of the beneficial traits for construction costs (intelligent, hard worker, superior builder, and so on) are actually increasing prices rather decreasing them. It's been cheaper to move almost all of the governors out of a city temporarily when building, although moving them means they won't gain some ancillaries that turn (unless that has changed).
I skimmed through data\export_descr_character_traits and many of those were showing something like "Effect Construction -5" with a negative modifier. However, when I checked the Architect traits, those were positive. I haven't gotten Architect in my campaign yet to check, but I assume that one is probably correct if the others are increasing costs. I also saw others like "bad builder" have a positive number, so would it work if I switched those signs in that file, or is there anything else I'd have to do for it to work on my savegame?
Only "problem" so far is that I only get that quote about the ensigns and the eagle on loading screens. *shrugs* lol
No that is deliberate. Was discovered a while back in testing that multiple quotes were a cause of some CTD's - why, well who knows, but leaving a single quote per faction resolved it. You could pretty much guarantee a CTD within 10 turns before it was changed.

I have an issue, cheating romans.
Please tell me this is a bug.I mean the reforms are a huge advantage already, but why should they get free units? and three times of their former strength as bonus...

This is stupid.
edit: Seriously, I got steamrolled , are these forces balanced for the 0-turn campaign?

It's a good challenge if your not the one faction that relies on one city, Massalia, that lies right next to roman territory. If you lose it, that's it, because the other cities around give no tax bonuses as they are barbarians... Anyhow, if I had known that was coming, I guess it's not that hard, but like this... kinda was ^^
Well at least it's historically accurate.![]()

Okay, my problem...
I've got RTW Gold+Alex (so everything fully patched). I can run RS 2.5 through Alex, but if I choose the ambush scenario during first battle by moving troops away from Hannibal, I get CTD during loading. Attacking him works fine, so getting attacked.
While trying to run through BI however, I get stuck at intro text, with message "please select item from list" appearing when trying to start. I've tried doubleclicking the campaing, clicking then arrow, just arrow, nothing works. When I did ALT+F4 afterwards, I had following error on destktop...
As I ssaid, BI is fully patched to 1.6 (Gold edition comes with that), so that's not the problem mentioned in the common problems thread...
There is a known problem with Alex exe and ambushes in the formations for column marching. I tried fixing it once, but it's very inconsistent, and the 'fix' for Alex definitely results in a CTD for RTW and BI. So don't allow yourself to be ambushed.
The error message for using BI sounds strangely like the BI.exe doesn't ahve theswitch after it. Are you using the Launcher? I've never encountered this in a year of testing RS2.5 with the BI exe (which I use exclusively), so there must be a problem in your configuration.

Tried to install the beta on my steam Rome gold, installed into that directory (where i installed RS2) but all that happened was a separate folder was installed there and no files to my knowledge changed, so i cut the contents from the new folder and pasted it in to the Rome gold folder and i got asked to overwrite files etc. Everything looked good, opened the launcher and selected everything i needed to, clicked start, got asked if i had chosen the faction i wanted etc then nothing. Nothing at all happened, the music was still playing though, i tried to close the launcher but it wouldn't, it wouldn't do anything no matter what i clicked. I had to ctrl, alt, del to close the launcher.
Any help here ?
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming.
Installed it in my Rome Gold Steam, Now there is a crash after a battle. Keeps saying Barbarian Invasion stopped working etc... help please!
