    Default Swimming Lessions

Gents - if anyone can help?

I am indeed using BI underneath and remember being able to get some units (those that are supposed to) to be able to cross rivers in Vanilla BI.

However, I haven't managed it in either RS 2.1a (my first game) and now 2.5Beta testing.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Or some switch I haven't 'flicked'?

Those pesky troops just don't seem to want to get their feet wet.

Hmm, i've been able to cross rivers with pretty much any units, playing as Ptolemy. Clicking ON the river never works though, gotta click on the other side and hope one of the "cross points" is close by.

Thanks for replying, but crossing isn't the issue. There are no worries if using the Bridges or Fords.....

It's for those units that have the 'Can Swim' ability.

They are supposed to be able to, literally, swim straight across - anywhere. But mine just won't!

Is the AI able to swim the same units across?

Thanks Ferdiad, I haven't tried it in any custom battles, I've been too busy doing an actual campaign to test that.

However, what I have therefore recalled is that the AI hasn't swum any units across at all either (and it does sometimes in Vanilla BI).

No, simply with things like the Velites or Numidian Cavalry I have just tried to get them to swim, but they just don't and all they do is head for the nearest crossing point.

Yes, I shall have to check the detail just in case there's an issue - I have another bit of scripting to actually contribute first!
