    Default Sub-Mod

Well, Broken Crescent is a mod centered on the Middle East. So in the first crusade, the conquest of Jerusalem had a big impact for Muslims. It really changed the world. How would be the Middle East if the Crusaders had failed to conquer the Holy Land ?
This is my idea. A sub mod for broken crescent about the first crusade. We must conquer the Holy Land as the crusaders or defend it as a muslim faction.
I dont know if there is something like this. I searched but I didn't find anything.
So do you guys like my idea ?

You mean have Broken Crescent start before the Crusaders get to the Holy land?

In all fairness you can kick KOJ quickly enough out of the Levant anyway, what would the Mid East look like if they never showed? not much different from if you took a Muslim faction and ousted the KOJ sharpish.

It's a novel idea of what if? but BC from what I know is based on history so? but yeah a Sub Mod could achieve what you asking for I presume.

Also you would have still had the Mongol invasion shaping the Mid East add to that most events in the Mid East were happening already well outside of the Crusaders influence in fact what actually happened was that the Crusades were actually not that much of a big deal, it mainly affected Byzantium because it got sacked and Seljuks because inbetween the Rum Turks taking pot shots at the Crusaders they ended up taking a few of their provinces.

The wider picture however of the Mid East of Arabia, Baghdad, Persia, Khorosan etc in that time period most of what was important in the Muslim world was going on in the East as Islamic kingdoms kept popping up then getting overthrown and these were kingdoms strong enough to reach right up to the Caliphs door in Iraq and they were the Saminids, Buyhids, Ghaznavids, Kwariziem, Ghurids and other Khorosan/Turkic dynasties.

It would be more interesting if the Crusaders effected the area as far as military for e.g armour or development of certain military aspects but the honest truth is all of these developments had happened in spite of the Crusader presence.

Armour - Persian Sassanid Cataphracts wrote the book on pre dark age heavy armour, these guy's wore armour and mail from head to toe ..... so did the damn horses, this goes back to Roman times forget Medieval.

Cavalry - Apart from the Persians the Arab cavaliers were famous in the 7th century AD during the Rashidun era and wrote the book on light cavalry tactics and cavalry charges and got up to medium armoured cavalry or Faris Knights similar to the early Frankish Cavalry 8-9th Century, it was these tactics which were included in the Furusyyia (Arabic manual of warrior and cavalry warfare) which was similar to lets say Bushido.

Mamluks - who in my opinion became the greatest cavalry warriors of all time and who turfed out both the Crusaders and the Mongols were the result of a completed Furusyyia which infused centuries of Arab horsemanship along with Turkic ways of war after centuries of Ghulam warriors is what created the Mamluks not the Crusaders.

Remember the Crusaders never left the levant or travelled more East than parts of Syria, put it this way in my opinion it was smart judgement, if they had travelled toward Baghdad and beyond ....... they would have never made it back.

Sorry for the extended detail lol I don't get much chance to discuss history with people.

I get your point but my point was the challenge, not the History itself. Maybe I could said, or never said: "How would be the Holy Land if the Crusaders had failed to conquer it ?"
But for the rest of Europe, the conquest of the Holy Land was one of the best thing that happened. The return of the commerce of the Low Middle Age, technologies coming from Asia and knowledge of medicine, but the Europe its not the point of the mod.
I never found a mod about the first crusade, and I think in Broken Crescent, with the perfect map and units, this sub mod could be really fun.

Let's not get political guy's, this is a game keep it that way.

Well Lord Matt if you feel that strongly and you feel the BC format is the only chance of seeing that sort of game come to life then you would need to get in touch with the guy's who know.

Look around for the people who make the sub mods and pitch your idea and they will tell you if it can be done or whether they would entertain doing it.

    Good luck.

Me on the other hand the only sub mod I've ever been interested in on BC and was lucky enough to get was "Faction Units everywhere" so I'm a happy bunny.

You need to pay more attention. I said "BUT FOR THE REST OF EUROPE, the conquest of the Holy Land was one of the best thing that happened"

@Ansar Warrior I think BC is the best mod to make my idea come to life because BC is already centered at that area, the team did an amazing job creating this mod and they have the resources to do it.
Certainly I'll look around for people who like my idea and make it come to life.
    Thank you for your answers.
