I wonder how many poor girls were forced to marry their rapists so that their families could protect their "honor" .
As if there is honor in acting like this.

Some extremists would argue that she got off lightly, it's not uncommon for a rape victim to be then put to death for having sex before marriage. It's always struck me as odd that they blame the woman for seducing the rapist. Although, not in Morrocco, Morrocco is supposed to be relatively civilised, it just makes this all the more shocking. What's even worse is that they're even worse off in those kind of societies if they reveal that they've been raped and refuse to marry the perpetrator.

Lost of respect, honor etc. among their society, its important for them in their culture, these traditions pretty common among the Kurds in Turkey too.
