    Default RTR or SPQR

Having finished campaigns in both vanilla and RTR I am going to start a new campaign and am unsure if I should give the SPQR mod a go? While I recognize that there is a degree of personal preference in a question such as this, but should I stick with RTR or is SPQR a superior experience? Thanks.

Well whether it is a superior experience is entirely down to your personal gaming preference. Do you like lots of large battles, and very very tough enemies? If you do you will like SPQR.

SPQR is just meat, like endless custom battles on huge.

I've played campaigns in both SPQR and RTR. As mentioned in the posts above SPQR is great for endless huge battles but RTR strikes me as being the more realistic and balanced campaign. I really enjoy both of them and which one I play is purely down to the sort of mood I'm in.

The best thing about spqr is the big big map.

If you like a challange then SPQR is far more challanging than RTR. There are huge battles every turn, you have 0 turn recruitment and much lower upkeep costs.

I can't stand too big maps, especially when there's lots of battles because it's too damn slow to play a campaign.

I shall try RTR when 7.0 comes out. 6.0 was lol for me because horses were slower than infantry. Well, I didn't play it that long...

I've played both campains and personaly I prefer my modded Platinum edition RTR (0 turn recruit, higher upkeep, higher moral, higher attacks...all done using unit express!) to SPQR, but I kept both. SPQR can get tedious, endless rounds of enormous battles over and over and over, it takes you years to capture one settlement and you spend more time going to every city and filling up the recruiting line then you do playing. RTR is balanced, has a very efficient ZoR system, but its units are nop higher quality then SPQR (Both being very high standard!).

Where did you get unit express? Google showed nothing and the downloads section on here isn't working for me.

    Thanks.

I assume he's referring to the Unit express that can be downloaded from the tools section.
