Default DLC / Free units etc

    Hello,

I could not find an all in one place for the information i'm seeking if there is any that is... Anyway saw Empire in my local Game store on the cheap & thought " Hell, its cheap & a TW i dont own yet WOOT !"

After playing Empire, I thought i would head to NTW as its based around the period i prefer rather than Empire. I aint had the time yet off from work to get stuck in, but from reading online forums etc, along with the DLC you can buy for extra units etc, i find out now that you can get more free units from sighing up to TW/SAGA website. Is this true as information about free units is very vague & not helpfully i.e what units etc

Another thing now annoying me is that i got NTW:Imperial edition from Steam, so i cant get my hands on Elite Regiments pack. If i got a boxed NTW standered would i be able to use the code to get Elite Regiments pack even tho i'll be playing with NTW:Imperial edition Steam.... O_o

    Cheers,

    Mike

you'll get much more units from mods than DLC.

See, now that one of the things i dont get with DLC & mods. Are modders able to just put X unit in to Y mod & just forget about DLC... even at that what happens if i do have one of DLC unit packs & mod already has their own version of it ??

You can mod whatever you want for units. It's easy to select what unit you want to use, DLC or not.
For example, in Masters of Europe we have added our own version of the Polish Lancers.
If you don't have the DLC, of course you'll see only our lancers.
If you have the DLC, by editing one table with PFM (the modding tool), you can decide to enable or disable both or only one of them.

Modders can do a lot of things with units. The difficulty would be that the choice of a modder may not be exactly what you want, according to your personnal preferences.
So you can either just use a mod as it is and accept these difference, or learn some minimal modding to allow you to adapt it a little to your specific needs.

You don't need a code to activate the Elite Regiments Pack (or at least I didn't). It should be done automatically. And I did some searching, and apparently the free unit is 10th hussars.

Most of the DLC units are pretty much a waste of money.

Agreed. Graphically they are not really better, their stats give only a slight bonus, and any one could add the equivalent in a mod with PFM.
And some mods propose many more units with much better graphics.

A DLC like the peninsular with new maps, new campaign, is worth it. A DLC with only units is not.
