    Default Dual GPU Laptop

    Hey guys,

I've searched high and low for a solution to this, so I figured I'd ask here as a last resort. I've got a dv6 with an Intel and ATi adapter, the Intel one's just generic, the ATi's a 5650. ATi's drivers fail installation when I try to update them, because of the Intel chip. I uninstalled the Intel chip, and the installation was successful but it no longer recognized the ATi chip as a 5650, and Aero stopped working. I read on AMD's site that you need special drivers, but HP hasn't updated them since last summer. Does anyone know of a workaround...?

Well, only one runs at a time, it's so you have a low powered one for when on battery, and a powerful one for gaming/3ds Max, etc. Gets hot, but not too hot.

go to the notebookreview forums, in the hp section take a look at the how people do with 2010 dv6, there is a catch when installing the drivers in that model.

please! take a look at the m18x, m17x R2, P180hm, X7200, and there are more all those notebooks support dual gpus, in sli and xfire configs. And no the heat is quite good.

btw the x7200 uses lga 1366 cpus, and the new model, uses the lga 2011

The M1760 is easily the most robust laptop I've ever used for gaming, and while heat is an issue, it isn't crippling.

I can't really offer any more than has been stated other than to suggest that you manually disconnection one or either of them to eliminate the possibility of a fault.

the m17, was a sli based notebook. the dv6 is using the intel 4500HD and the 5650m, so for saving power, its intel time, when gaming its amd time.
