Does it matter that most of these castles were built by the English (inc the ones in Wales)?

I never stated that they weren't under english ownership but they are not in England they are in wales. If I had made a thread contrasting northumbrian and cumbrian castles would you be saying the same things.
From post 1 and title of thread.
El Guapo and God contesting english vs welsh castles
Is there or is there not a place called England and a place called Wales. Should I get maps as sources and highlight the borders, and are the said castles in this thread located in such places. Do I really need to go this far? Whether or not it is under english control is irrelevant to the thread.

rofl, just checked my cp and i got negative rep for the post above..apparently it was spam?
what gives? and how do i get this negative rep removed..as its quite obviously theres no reason to give it
Lol maybe because they're much older than most of the English castles. These castles were requested to be built by the English to keep the Welsh under contol, however I'm sure that many welsh people worked to construct them, so they are pretty welsh.
Also, they were used by the welsh in rebellion against the English- the English's creations were being used against them lol!
Harlech castle is my fave btw.
How many of them are from the norman conquest though? Cardiff castle contains Roman walls and a norman keep; ancient stuff.
The outer walls of Cardiff castle are very impressive, and weren't constructed under an English king, but under the third marquess of bute-the barron of Cardiff (who transformed the old castle).

My god this is an old thread. I'd forgotten how pedantic TBP and Carach could be over what was clearly just a bit of fun to show off some architecture!
Someone should do another one, based on European architecture, or perhaps napoleonic era architecture.
I demand a revote!
I request pics of some of the native Welsh built castles (to silence all the moaners ).
How about Cricieth, Dolbadarn, Dinefwr, Carreg Cennen and Dolwyddelan?
Plus chuck in pics of Castell Coch and Cardiff Castle.
I was just about to bring Carreg Cennen up in reply to Imb's post. Definitely my favourite castle. Arglwydd Rhys is my homeboy.
And I'm happy to say that I've been to every one of the castles God posted, save Conwy which I've only observed from the road (which is a shame, as it's one of the best preserved castle towns in Europe). And Bodiam is a kick ass English castle, though hardly a defensive one. Fortunately for me, Wales has the most castles per square mile in Europe.
Oh, and to any Medievalist I recommend visiting the Medieval Keep of Dover castle which has had the interior refurbished to how it would of looked at it's creation (Henry II). Really beautiful, from the tapestries to the ornately carved and painted beds, and a nice replica of the Mapa Mundi.
