What's your native resolution? Greater the resolution, the more powerful the card it needs...

Ishan is correct, plus we need your budget.

General advice tends to go to the NVidia Gtx 560 ti 448 core edition.
Or the slightly less powerful normal GTX 560 ti / AMD HD 6950 2gb.

the literal best graphics card on the market today as far as performance is the 7970 by AMD

Nvidia is supposed to release their kepler line sometime before June (some say march some say april some say 2nd to never) and it MAY or may not take the top spot.

If we have your budget we could recommend something that fits your budget.

and investing in an aftermarket cooler n ocing cpu adds more fps...well worth doing with v little risk if done sensibly.

wait a week or two and get the radeon 7870. cheaper than the 7950 by $100 and yet it's benchmarking nearly the same FPS. there's some odd texture optimization and crashing but it should be fixed by later drivers.

or wait a bit longer than that and see what nvidia's 600 series offers.

Especially on older games like RTW, M2TW as they utilize only one core.

If rumours are correct then it's within the next month.

The 680 GTX will be around $649 and might be as much as 45% faster than the 7970.

HD 7850 seems to be around a 6970 in most benchmarks, but at some resolutions it seems to get beaten by even a regular 560 ti / hd 6950, very weird. I wouldn't recommend it, the 7870 seems a very solid card though.

Zero it overclocks to the performance of a GTX580. Thats on a standard overclock nothing special no crazy voltages and on stock air cooling.

    That's why I recommended it.

I'm aware of that, I'm simply saying it behaves, rather.. strange. But they are only benchmarks, not to be taken 100% seriously anyway.
