    Default [Solved] Messed up settlement income

    After a break from moding, I came back to my project. Apparently I've missed something, because all settlements show huge income numbers now. Villages - ~7k, towns - up to 30k. I'd like to know, what the hell have I messed up here. :/

    I think the only thing about economy I had changed was increase in the starting gold for each faction (the amount of money factions have at the first turn). But that's it.

    Any leads?

    My guess is you have played with the descr_settlement_mechanics.
    This Tutorial will help you out.

    No way. I've never even seen that file. In fact, after a quick search, it doesn't appear like the mod I'm modifying even has such a file.

    Then in the descr_strat, this line for each faction

    denari_kings_purse 2000

    It's extra "free" money for the faction but you said every settlement have an increase of income? If it's the case, in the Export_Descr_Building perhaps.

    I changed king's purse, but that does not increase settlement income.

    And I haven't touched EDB yet.

    The files I've edited include: descr_cultures, descr_sm_factions, EDU, descr_strat, battle_models.modeldb.

    That's about it. I'm clueless.

    Well the only way to increase by that much the income is either you put great bonus with trade related codes inside the Export_Descr_Building or there's changes inside the descr_settlement_mechanics. It's the only way to make radical changes for settlement incomes.

    Wait, I just remembered I've changed (increased) value of all trade resources, so they wouldn't be so useless. Could that be it???

    Appears it's not so. The trade resources (descr_sm_resources) were the cause of this. Which brings me to the next question - how do you increase value of trade resources without making your income explode for all settlements?

    The question makes no sense. How can you increase the amount of money received for selling a resource but not increase the amount you get for selling it? The only thing you can try is to have a smaller increase in value.

    Umm...? My intent was optimizing merchants as agents, so they would make more gold out of the trade resources. By default they're pretty useless. I just didn't know that the small objects scattered across the map were directly linked to the income of towns and castles, that's all.

    Code:
       <merchants>
          <base_income_modifier float="0.7"/>
          <trade_bonus_offset float="10.0"/>
       </merchants>
    Thanks, I'll try this out.

    Edit: worked!

    To better clarify this, check into one settlement statistics, check the income category and see which type of income that has drastic values.

    You could try bumping up these values in descr_campaign_db:

    Code:
       <merchants>
          <base_income_modifier float="0.7"/>
          <trade_bonus_offset float="10.0"/>
       </merchants>
