I'm currently studying music technology at college... that is, training to be a sound engineer, where one of the key abilities is mixing. One of my tutors linked me to a fantastic resource which allows me to mix professional quality audio at home without needing expensive equipment or needing to record the audio myself.

Tons of multitracks from loads of different genres, made by Cambridge students. They're free to download and the audio quality is bloody brilliant. If you're just getting into music production or even if you are experienced I would definitely recommend downloading some of these! Make sure you download the full multitrack and not the preview!
All you need is a good pair of monitors/headphones and a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation, such as Logic or Cubase). Audacity and Reaper are free, and you can get a good set of headphones for £30.
Just thought I would share this brilliant website.
