Default Help to choose a faction :(

I have finished my HRE campaigne a few weeks a go and I want to try a new one

For 2 day's I am looking on Honga total war to compare the factions and I narrow it down to these factions; Sicily, Poland and Hungary.

Also I had an idea to play the Teutonic Order (Teutonic campaigne) and emigrate them in a corner ( like Norway is now ) and build up a force to attack the whole map

And an other idea was to play the Welsh or the Irish in Brittannia but will that be some fun?

So let me know guy's and thanx in advance

stop wasting threads and just choose, if you don't like the faction then choose another one.

If you don't like the thread why waste your time responding?! If you don't like the thread then choose another one!

Noble Zweihander if i where you i would choose Sicily as they will test whether your empire management tactics are up to scratch as money is scarce at the beginning and you need to master the use of crusades to succeed. All factions are fun in their own way but Sicily always in my opinion presents a challenge.

sicily is the most fun. you can go after byzantines and the moors without the pope whining. you can even get a crusade for tunis and places like algiers. the other italian factions wont be that much intrested in you. although if you capture sardinia and corsica you will have to be watchfull for naval invasions

I highly advise to avoid the Kingdoms campaigns. They get boring after turn #10.

Anyway, the question is what are you looking for?
    Laid back faction?
    A challenge?
    Somewhere in between?

Laid back - England, Spain, Denmark.
A challenge - Byzantine Empire, France, the Holy Roman Empire (Yeah, I know you tried them already), Venice, Turks
Somewhere in between - Milan, Sicily, Poland, Hungary, Russia, Egypt, Moors, Portugal, Scotland.

Out of those three categories my favorites have to be Spain, Byzantine Empire, and Scotland.
With Spain it's truly a walk in the park. Quite a bit of warring early on, but if you use crusades properly it should be a cake walk. They're a very fun faction, a crazy economic power and overall very fun.

The Byzantine Empire is quite a bit of a challenge. You're secluded, you have no 'real' allies, you have wars on three fronts (Naval front as well) with around 4 factions, and last but not least you're the only one with your religion (Aside for Russia, which are useless in Vanilla)... They're quite a handful and will truly test your management skills.

Scotland are just pure joy. There's nothing better than to beat the game as the underdog. You'll have your hands full trying to find rebel lands to occupy and you have to move fast to take over York and Ireland (And perhaps even Caernarvon), and overall you'll need to use some diplomatic skills to take out England with the help of France and from there you have dozens of expanding options.

NOTE: Out of the three, the only faction that will potentially have trouble with the Pope is Scotland.

I advise you to play the Britannia campaign. It is far the most interesting one and maybe the most tactical. It's all about Total War. As far as the factions are concerned, in my opinion Norway is the most fun. Ireland once you take the whole island, you can do whatever you want, while Wales may be some challenge at high difficulties.

Probably my favorite out of Kingdoms is probably Americas or Teutonic. I like playing as the Mongols in the Teutonic campaign.

Id say Sicily, because of their roster and strategic starting position in the Mediterranean will allow for a broad and quick expansion.

Out of the first three factions I would choose Sicily.

Irish are my favorite whenever I have played Brittannia.

welsh should be fun. never played them, but after norway theyre the underdog of britannia.

for the teutonic campaign, the knights themselves are kinda overpowered. i'd not bother.

as for the first three, i'd play sicily. never played as them, either, but i'd think they could make a tonne of money off of sea trade pretty early if you take a more naval-based approach.

I'd say Sicily too, but watch out for loads of mongol fleets littering the waters later on. You could try a mod as well if you get board of vanilla.

The most fun campaign I've ever had was as Sicily. Role-play a bit:
Land a force at Tunis when you're prepared with a good army and a young, decent general - but make sure he's young. Play your campaign following his life as the vanquisher of heathens (makes for a good story line). Try to conquer all of Africa and single-handedly take back the Holy Lands and push as far east as you can, all with this one general.
