    Default Hey guys

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and total war games. Have played many war games but this so far is my fav. Im still playing vanilla, with a little mods. I made a post last night as my first and it was pretty long. Is there a waiting period while the moderators look over my thread? Or a way to retrieve the message? Thanks all and look forward to being part of the community.

Hey Fisher. I guess there is no waiting period.

I will start off by asking the veteran modders on here my first question...

Is there a way to mod the game to allow Legionary Cohorts to merge with Legionary First Cohorts? This seems very realistic. I do not retrain my units, not that I could retrain the Legionary First Cohort since I have yet to take Rome. These two units are almost identical. Same stats and look, just one is bigger than the other and has an eagle. Which I have not been able to find on this forum or figure out how much it helps to have one in battle. I see a lot of drawbacks since you can lose one, but I want one with every army once I take Rome. It is always on my main battle line but the AI seems content to hit the left everytime. Scared of the First Cohort? This has allowed some of my legions to be promoted to three chevrons will my Legionary First Cohort is still at one. It is about 60 men undersized and I want to merge my Legionary Cohort veterans with them. This seems very realistic since it was a great honor and promotion to serve in the First Cohort. Anyway to make this happen? I think it would add greatly to the gameplay and keep your veterans in the First Cohort.

Thanks guys, more questions to follow...but this one first

Well, you can't do that at all, units have to be exactly the same to merge but good for trying!

The eagle gives a morale boost to units around it like a general and I think it makes the enemy scared.

Makes sense. Thought it was a long shot was just thinking it would be a nice feature and maybe if the Unit card was the same it might work.

    Next question...

I have seen on here that you can create generals commanding infantry. Is this an easy mod? Would the unit size (on HUGE) max out at 161 or 240 (depending on unit) when he was 60 or so or would it max at 108? (the max size for cavalry) This would be a nice feature for Praetorian Guard or Legionary First Cohort for the romans, but would be less so if the unit was between 48-96 most of the time. It just seems unrealistic for the Romans/Greeks/etc. to start off the game with hundreds of the best cavalry in the game, when their strength was infantry.
