Almost no other genre do I actually cry. But I will admit this when I am watching a really good war movie almost always at some point in it I will tear up. Especially when a soldier risks his life to save another I don't know what gets over me! Anyone else?

I can remember many points in Letters To Iwo Jima where I would shed well a few tears..

I thought I was the only one! "We Were Soldiers" gets me all misty eyed and snively. Doesn't happen with any other genre.
If you rep me, leave your name. I'll look more kindly on your future transgressions.

It depends. If it's a good movie where I care for the characters then I'll might get a frog in my throat.

    I can't cry over a film. It's not real.

But I especially can't cry over a War Film. Glorification of War/Distortion of History is Anathema.

They are either jingoistic and quite often American focused.

Or so poignant to the point of nauseam.

I don't think I've ever cried from watching a war movie. I might have gotten a lump in my throat from the BoB ending or Saving Private Ryan ending though. The Last Battalion is a bit of a downer, and you should have heard the girls in my class when Major Konig hanged that kid in EatG lol.

If anything, war movies (especially the more disturbing/graphic ones) leave me feeling a bit numb and drained more than sad.

I still say the saddest movie of all time is The Fox and the Hound.

The Lion King was fairly sad when I was a kid. I fail to find any sad war movies though. BoB would be the closest but that is not a movie so you have much more time to develop personality etc.

I get a bit teary eyed watching BoB or The Pacific, though they are tears for all the people that died in that war, not just Americans.

I can't make myself emotionally attached to any movie characters. I watch war movies for the blood, gore and combat. And that's why I usually skip most of it anyway.

No wonder you cant get attached if you skip half the movie.

No, I skip the movie because I know I won't care anyway. I only ever get attached to a few book characters, and extremely rarely, to video game ones.
