***Onna Bushi are primarily a dojo unit, though a dilemma (implemented in v0.9) allows you to recruit them (or kill them, depending on your choice).

    -------

A few notes I made when balancing units. It does not detail every single unit. If what I have written here is inappropriate, just let me know.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Su-Yari Ashigaru/Jumonji Yari Ashigaru
The ‘Yari Ashigaru’ are cheapest and largest unit in the game, and perhaps the most important. The "Su" and "Jumonji" simply mean the type of yari these units wield, with the former being a straight blade and the latter being a trident blade. Their spear wall allows them to stand up against units normally stronger than them.
-Strong against cavalry charges and a cost-effective defender of fortresses
-Weak against melee flanking charges (sword-based units moreso than other spear-based units)

    Long-Yari Ashigaru

These Ashigaru are the evolution of the Yari Ashigaru. In comparison to the Yari Ashigaru, they bear bolstered anti-cavalry, defensive and melee attack, but have less of a capacity to charge.
-Even stronger against cavalry charges, but the lessened soldiers per unit means they cannot stretch out as much as Yari Ashigaru in siege defence
-Weak against melee flanking charges (sword-based units moreso than other spear-based units)

    Katana Ashigaru

The ‘Katana Ashigaru’ are subject to more rigorous training than the standard Yari Ashigaru. They wield the Katana and have a charge bonus that is quite powerful for an ashigaru unit.
-Effective flanking force and line-bracer (think of them as a cheap compromise between a katana and nodachi samurai)
-Should not be used as a main line unit (to exemplify, if it goes up against a yari ashigaru, it may be defeated or will suffer harsh casualties).
    -Weak against cavalry charges

    Bow Ashigaru
    and Teppo Ashigaru
Contrasting these two units will help explain their value on the battlefield.
-T.A. can start engaging in combat quicker than B.A.
-B.A. can fire volleys over the main line, making them more flexible. T. A. will commonly hit friendly forces if they fire from the same position.
-In sieges, B.A. can fire volleys over the walls. T.A. are limited to attacking the wall.
-Both are weak against cavalry charges.

    Light Cavalry

‘Light Cavalry’ are the cheapest form of cavalry. They may reflect that cheap recruitment cost in their stats, but they also possess the ability to deploy almost anywhere on the battlefield.
-Flexible deployment; excellent for scouting; even more useful if you play with battle realism enabled.
-Great for running down the routed enemy forces
-Effective against units with poor melee skill (i.e. Bow, Teppo Ashigaru)
    -Weak against other cavalry units
    -Extremely weak against spear units

    Katana Samurai
    and Katana Ronin
These two units are quite on-par with each other. They are more powerful than ashigaru but are not as strong as the Tachi Guard or Nodachi Samurai. Ronin have kisho training, making them slightly more costly.
-Moderate stats; can hold against most types of units, but may not necessarily win against the more tougher of those types.

    Zhanmadao Wako

These pirates’ interaction with Chinese plunder has allowed them to be armed with a number of Zhanmadao.
    -Flexible deployment.
-Strongest anti-cavalry bonus for a sword unit.
-Weak in a standard melee fight.

    Tachi Guard

These samurai are to katana samurai as katana samurai are to katana ashigaru. Their greater attack and armour stats account for their limited charge bonus and moderate defense and morale.
    -Strong attackers.
    -Poor against cavalry.

    Where to Recruit Units
