Default over-powered nations at the start....

    hey everybody,

i know its fairly shamefull but im starting the scipii's again because im about 10 turns in and cartharage is just crazy powerfull, andi m playing on M/M

basically you know the drill, you take sycracause, then you go for liaybem, well i got syracause without any troubles, made friends with the greeks bla bla bla...then i go on thinking im gonna own cartharage with my big army and BAM they give me a big slam in the face with too big armies with archers, elphants and good infantary in!!

well i didnt just give up then, i decided too counter-attack them with my pretty good navy, i blockaded cartharage, and when liyabem got a port there aswell, i also sent a diplo to there land.

anyhow, somehow my blokade gets destroyed by a massive cartharage fleet...even though they are running in debt.. then i find out that THREE large cathaginian armies are closeing in on messana and syracause....not counting the huge army inside liyabem *sigh*

anyway sometimes ive had this problem- you start out and you immidiatly face an over-powered enemy you should be able to steamroll...anybody else get this occasionally?

ow yeah, the julis tried to take that island town near them, and it had a tiny cathagian force....they got defeated+they also went for palma....guess what DEFEATED!

    fisher XD

Haha, this is hysterical. I've never, ever come across Carthage presenting a threat. In fact, I've taken Carthage on turn 8 once. Playing as Julii.

You want a tipp? Enjoy the challenge.

Carthage has on M/M not enough bonuses to really get overpowered, so it seems like the ai finally did some intelligent things.

Carthage Archers are a made unit, which didnīt make it into the final faction roster - no one knows why.

He may have installed a mod.

Yeah, they look like Numidian Archers, but with white uniforms. Well actually it is in a roster, Numidias.

if there is one faction type overpowered, its the romans. best units and buildings. only seleucids have equally unit power, but they get crushed at the start

besides, at the beginning, carthage can barely make elpehants

I've never really been one for settling in another part of the world. It's an interesting concept that I've never tried. If I were you, I would've just kept at it. Elephants can be a daunting challenge, but there are ways to overcome them. Missiles are useful, and pigs are a must. Cavalry is bad, never use them. Oh, and if you're fighting a defensive battle which it sounds like you are, you might as well take every advantage you can get like hills and forests.
The Greeks came up with the saying, "don't look a gift horse in the mouth". But the Greeks also built the Trojan Horse. Coincidence? I think not...
