Shogun 2 splash screen crash
OK so ive seen lots of people with similar issues getting their problem solved in this forum so ive got a good feelin bout this.
i bought S2TW some months after it was released, bought a new pc so i could run it, according to steam ive played 71 hours... i had no problems during those 71 hours of gameplay. but around dec/11 jan/12 i believe there was a patch released? well the fact is that it magically doesnt work any more it freezes or crashes in the copyright screen with the big " shogun 2 total war" logo.
i dont have any mods installed nor any DLC
ive tried reinstalling the game (both from cd and downloading) tried verifying and defragmenting game cache and switched languages back n forth a few times. Also contacted steam support n did what they said but nothing.
anyone have any ideas?

Hello,
Thank you for contacting Steam Support.
If you are running in Windows Vista or Windows 7, please completely exit Steam, and right-click on the shortcut which you use to launch Steam and select "Run as Administrator."
If you are running in Windows XP, take the following steps:
1) Exit Steam.
2) Go to the "Start" menu, select "Run", type "regedit" and click "OK".
3) Navigate to the following registry key: \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\VALVE\
4) Right click and select "Permissions"
5) Check the "Allow" boxes for "Admin" and "System" for both "Full control" and "Read".
The remaining steps apply to *all* versions of Windows.
First, verify the GCF for Total War: SHOGUN 2 at least once:
Title: Verifying Game Cache Files (GCF)
Link: http://support.steampowered.com/kb_a...2037-QEUH-3335
NOTE: There may be files that fail to validate. This is normal and can be ignored.
If the problem remains, you may need to manually run secondary installers required by this game.
Exit Steam entirely.
Browse to your Total War: SHOGUN 2 installation folder (Usually C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\total war shogun 2\)
You will need to run the following installers:
...\steamapps\common\total war shogun 2\redist\DirectX\DXSETUP.exe
...\steamapps\common\total war shogun 2\redist\vcredist_x86.exe
...\steamapps\common\total war shogun 2\redist\vcredist_x86-sp1.exe
...\steamapps\common\total war shogun 2\redist\vcredist_x86_90.exe
...\steamapps\common\total war shogun 2\redist\clean_vcredist.bat
Then, restart your computer and test the issue again.
If the issue persists, further support for this title is handled by a third party support department - please follow the instructions in the link below to contact the support provider to troubleshoot this issue:

Re: Shogun 2 splash screen crash
Nice to know my view of Sega "support" has not changed. They are only following orders, though.
Run Windows Update and install software options.
Try updating the chipset at www.intel.com.
Try updating the High Definition audio codecs at www.realtek.com.tw.
Post the gfx.log.txt.
Post the awesomium.txt.
Welcome to TWC.
Running the graphics through the i5 is crappy but it should get you at least low settings.

Re: Shogun 2 splash screen crash
I recently re-installed my copy of FOTS using steam. When I hit "play" I get to the legal documentation splash screen and then the game closes. No error message. I know this game works on my comp, I have logged over 30 hours already.
If I could have some help that would be appreciated. I'm new.

Re: Shogun 2 splash screen crash
Delete the hidden Shogun2 folder in users\username\appdata\roaming\the creative assmebly, verify the game cache, and then try it.
Monday's download may have messed up something.

Re: Shogun 2 splash screen crash
I just deleted the folder then verified. I opened the game and it's still doing it. It's closing on it's own at the splash screen. I just want it to stay open.

Re: Shogun 2 splash screen crash
I'd say delete both Shogun2 folders and reinstall.

Re: Shogun 2 splash screen crash
Are they listed Control Panel > Uninstall Programs?
Have you run Windows Update manually and install all software options to get them up to date?
