Can't activate console on Steam

I try and activate my console (with the key next to 1) and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING happens. My game is from Steam and the version number is 1.03.

Does anyone know how I might get it up? Thanks.

I use the @ symbol on my Steam Version.

It is indeed the " ' " and "@" button on english keyboards.

It is not the same as Rome, which was the-wierd-key-next-between-tab-and-escape-which-no-one-knows-the-name-of key
