Default Why are only a handfull of units charging?

When i issue an attack or charge command, only a few units engage the enemy, the rest just stand around unless i click repeatedly past the enemy and then the ones already engaged in battle get slaughtered.

    What am i missing here?

CA makes crappy games. This charging issue is common to most if not all mods. See if you get better results by telling the unit to move first and once it's in motion ordering it to charge. Try it with walking, then with running.

Yes, he is right. first walk then run if possible. It is better.

The bug seems related with unit training ability. Untrained/trained/highly_trained ... The level decides how tidy units are. So it affects such things. But as a result, even trained units act like silly... And it is a bug for myself too...

Yea, for any kind of charge, its best to do it over a distance, attack click the unit, let them start walking, about half way there set them to running, and then when they're within charge distance theyll charge.
Works good with cavalry ill say.

I get this issue in siege battles. Are you attacking a unit part on/part off a wall or with a unit part on/off a wall? That is the only time I notice it.

This seems most common in siege battles, yes. Specially with units inside a settlement. You order them to charge or sometimes, just to attack normally, and they start moving for a couple of moments and then they stop utterly and completely and forget about any orders. it happens sporadically and most commonly on cavalry units, but I've seen a few infantry act like that too.

You have to order them to walk towards the enemy and hope they'll automatically engage in combat once the enemy starts atacking them.

Maybe somebody made a mod or submod that can fix that?

I know nothing about modding, but as a frequent player of Medieval II and its mods I suspect that this problem is in the game, not the mod.

This is a known vannila issue.Nothing to do with TATW.And CA doesnt make crappy games but they dont make em perfect either.
Btw RC lowers the charging distance values in edu and this seems to reduce the problem to some extent. Not tested or anything so maybe i am wrong.

Infantry charge is quite similar to cavalry charge prior 1.2 patch, at least it look like. Back then cavalry had to form proper line, could not run only trot, and charge was succesful only when cav unit autocharged. It looks like infantry suffers similar... bug/mistake? Unit will charge uniformly as long as all soldiers do same thing, (It's kinda hard to explain). ALL of soldiers must move in same direction (they cannot switch places during marching/running), must move with same speed (so no charge when couple of soldiers run and others just start running), must move as cohesive unit (they cannot be too extended), cannot be countercharged or intercepted prior charge (but it can be changed by charge_distance and brace_distance values). As far as I remember Darth mod for medieval 2, at least partially solved this problem, but hell with me if I know what to change.
