I remember reading somwhere that it took 6 months of hard training to turn a raw recruit into a legionary who knows all the commands and manouvres and all his tasks...

Look for the writer Adrian Goldsworthy. He's written quite a few books on ancient History, containing a few books on the Roman army and a biography of Julius Caesar. They're not expensive (I bought them for €10 each) so that might help you out.

I have only read Caesar, Carthage and The fall of the West, but I like his style. My point is: I don't know how good the books about the army are but I'm sure I'll give them a try later too!

They love J. Cesar; Read some books about this istorical time at library (Russian maybe). I know some good authors in this theme!
