Loyalty (BI)

So I've had BI for a while but never got round to properly playing it. I've started an ERE campaign on H/H, and I've noticed that pretty much all of my generals, except the ones that hold offices have very low loyalty that only ever seems to decrease.

Apart from placing them near enemy diplomats in the hope that they'll try to bribe my generals, what can I do to increase their loyalty?

Generals weren't to be relied on very much, you used them to command armies but for the rest you put trust in family members.
