Ok so after breaking rome total war a few months ago, today I bought Rome total war Gold. I tried to download a few mods, RTR, Lusted's mod, Chivilary Total war etc. None worked. None of the files that were loaded via the exe's were there at all. When I tried to play RTR it said this:

This Application has failed to start because MSS32.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

Suffice to say it didnt. So as I said, I tried other mods. That message never came up again. Except after I restarted my computer. So I decided to uninstall Rome total war. This is what I get whenever I try:

Error loading C:\PROGA~1\COMMON~1\INSTAL~1\PROFES~1\RunTime\11\50\Intel32\Ctor.dll

The specified module could not be found.

Ok so my questions are

Why the **** would the mod not install? What is this MSS32 crap? Why wont Rome total war uninstall? How can I uninstall it? Any tips on getting my mods to work? Help!

mss32.dll is a module for the Miles Sound System Library used by WinAmp and other multimedia applications for audio playback and sound effects.

Ok, on the example I am suppose to go to: Drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Dungeon Siege 2\system: Replace of course Dungeon Siege 2 with Rome total war. However I cant find any 'system' folder for Rome total war. What folder would I look in for Rome total war, to fix this?

Also do you know what this means? :Error loading C:\PROGA~1\COMMON~1\INSTAL~1\PROFES~1\RunTime\11\5 0\Intel32\Ctor.dll

And if you do, will this problem be fixed if I fix the MSS32: DLL problem?

EDIT: Did a search for it, I could find seven MSS32.DLL folders, but none for Rome total war. How can I put the folder in its correct place...if my computer can not find traces of it?

So I think you could just put it in there, but I'm not an expert or anything.

Well once I find it I will put it in there...trouble is I cant find it! Is it possible, to let me download the Mss32.dll file? Just throwing ideas out there..

EDIT: Hell would it even be possible for me to take say the Mss32.dll file from another game and transplant it into my Rome total war folder? I mean from what I can tell this is simpley a progam...not a unique one from any game...right?

The mod probably didnt install because of a corrupted download perhaps.

This should be the folder to look in for RTW: C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War

The Mss32.dll file is the problem it looks like though, if you get that then it should work. However, try uninstalling again and see if it works, wouldnt hurt to try.

Sorry I cant say much now, I am lokking at my stuff to see if I can relate any problems.

It wouldn't matter if he deleted it or not, cuz' you can always just use the "Restore All Items" function in the Recycle bin to put it back if it didn't work. As long as he doesn't empty the Recycle Bin while it's in there, or have it set to automatically empty, if that is even possible.

Insert the cd in your computer and then go to the My Computer folder, and then right click the CD app (Drive D for my computer.) then hit open. Then click setup once inside the cd folder that pops up. Maybe it will work from inside the cd. Just a thought.

Now that I think of it, RTR did work (had its own Icon) however whenever I clicked on it, it brought up the MSS32.dll thing. While at the time Vanilla didn't... So now the only problem we need to fix is MSS32.dll :original: Will that be easy?

also, if you run into .dll problems - just google it and then you can download it. Everytime I install the nvidia photoshop plugin it deletes some system .dll but I just download it and everything works fine.

Ok so my MSS32.dll folder is there. I downloaded RTR and installed it. Just before it loads it says: "Could not Inatilize 3D Audio" Umm. How do I fix this?

EDIT: Why would this even stop the game from loading? Also it didn't do this before it all started getting messed up.

I have no idea what the whole 3D audio thing is. Are you doing the "-show_err" thing? I'm not sure if it will work before the game loads, but it usually pinpoints things relatively close. Right-click the shortcut for w/e version of Rome you are using and click Properties. Then in the Shortcut tab in the target blank, click your cursor after the "....exe", hit the spacebar once, and then type " -show_err ", without the parenthesis of course. Maybe that would help you figure out what's missing.

Nope, same thing as before. Hey, could I download a new 3d Audio thing? I typed it in on google, and theres a few sites I can download it off of. Should I try it? Also why would this even matter? I've played games without speakers before... I mean this is all sound based. Shouldn't my sound just not work...why would it stop the game from loading? And I heard sound before earlier today infact... This is all so strange..
